1 Alleluia: lodate Dio. Date lode al Signore, perché egli è buono, perché eterna ell'è la sua misericordia.	1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is with every generation.
2 Chi potrà ridire le possenti opere del Signore: chi rappresenterà con parole tutte le lodi di lui?	2 Who will declare the powers of the Lord? Who make a hearing for all his praises?
3 Beati quelli, che osservano la rettitudine, e in ogni tempo praticano la giustizia.	3 Blessed are those who keep judgment and who do justice at all times.
4 Sovvengati di noi, o Signore, secondo la buona tua volontà verso il tuo popolo: vieni a visitarci colla tua salute:	4 Remember us, O Lord, with good will for your people. Visit us with your salvation,
5 Affinchè noi vergiamo i beni de' tuoi eletti, e ci rallegriamo dell'allegrezza del popol tuo, affinchè tu sii glorificato nella tua eredità.	5 so that we may see the goodness of your elect, so that we may rejoice in the joy of your nation, so that you may be praised along with your inheritance.
6 Abbiam peccato co' padri nostri: abbiamo operato ingiustamente, abbiam commessa iniquità.	6 We have sinned, as have our fathers. We have acted unjustly; we have wrought iniquity.
7 I padri nostri nell'Egitto non considerarono le tue meraviglie: non si ricordarono della molta tua misericordia.	7 Our fathers did not understand your miracles in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of your mercies. And they provoked you, while going up to the sea, even the Red Sea.
8 E te irritarono quando stavano per entrare nel mare: nel mare rosso.	8 And he saved them for the sake of his name, so that he might make known his power.
9 Ed ei li salvò per amor del suo nome, per far conoscere la sua potenza.	9 And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up. And he led them into the abyss, as if into a desert.
10 E fè minaccia al mar rosso, ed ei si asciugò: e li menò per gli abissi come per un arido terreno.	10 And he saved them from the hand of those who hated them. And he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 E li salvò dalle mani di quei, che gli odiavano, e li riscattò dal poter del nemico.	11 And the water covered those who troubled them. Not one of them remained.
12 E sommerse nelle acque i loro persecutori; un solo di essi non si salvò.	12 And they believed his words, and they sang his praises.
13 Ed essi ebber fede alle sue parole, e cantarono le sue lodi.	13 As soon as they had finished, they forgot his works, and they would not endure his counsel.
14 Ma fecer presto a scordarsi delle opere di lui, e non aspettarono l'esito de' suoi consigli.	14 And they coveted their desire in the desert, and they tempted God in a waterless place.
15 E desiderarono cose voluttuose nel deserto, e tentarono Dio in quel luogo senz'acqua.	15 And he granted to them their request, and he sent abundance into their souls.
16 E diede loro quel, che chiedevano, e saziò i loro appetiti.	16 And they provoked Moses in the camp, and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord.
17 E irritarono negli alloggiamenti Mosè, e Aronne il santo del Signore.	17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, and it covered the congregation of Abiram.
18 Si aperse la terra, e ingoiò Dathan e assorbì la sequela di Abiron.	18 And a fire broke out in their congregation. A flame burned up the sinners.
19 E il fuoco divampò nelle loro tende: la fiamma abbrugiò i peccatori.	19 And they fashioned a calf at Horeb, and they adored a graven image.
20 E fecero un vitello in Horeb: e adorarono una statua di getto.	20 And they exchanged their glory for the likeness of a calf that eats hay.
21 E la gloria loro cambiarono per l'immagine di un vitello, che pasce l'erba.	21 They forgot God, who saved them, who did great things in Egypt:
22 Si dimenticaron di Dio, che li salvò, e fece cose grandi in Egitto, cose mirabili nella terra di Cham, cose terribili nel mar rosso.	22 miracles in the land of Ham, terrible things at the Red Sea.
23 E avea parlato di sterminarli se Mosè suo eletto non si fosse piantato alla breccia di contro a lui,	23 And he said that he would destroy them, yet Moses, his elect, stood firm before him in the breach, in order to avert his wrath, lest he destroy them.
24 Affine di distornare l'ira di lui perché non gli sterminasse. Quelli però non si curarono di quella terra desiderabile:	24 And they held the desirable land to be nothing. They did not trust in his word.
25 Non credettero alla parola di lui, e mormorarono ne' loro alloggiamenti: non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.	25 And they murmured in their tabernacles. They did not heed the voice of the Lord.
26 E alzata la mano contro di essi giurò di sporgergli nel deserto,	26 And he lifted up his hand over them, in order to prostrate them in the desert,
27 E di avvilire la loro stirpe tralle nazioni, e di dispergergli in questa, e in quella regione.	27 and in order to cast their offspring among the nations, and to scatter them among the regions.
28 E si consagrarono a Beelphegor, e mangiarono de' sagrifizj dei morti.	28 And they were initiated into Baal of Peor, and they ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29 E lui irritarono co' loro ritrovamenti: e si fè più grande la loro rovina.	29 And they provoked him with their inventions, and ruination was multiplied in them.
30 E si levò su Finees, e lo placò; e la piaga cessò.	30 Then Phinehas stood up and placated him: and so the violent disturbance ceased.
31 E ciò fugli imputato a giustizia di generazione in generazione fino in sempiterno.	31 And it was reputed to him unto justice, from generation to generation, even forever.
32 E lui irritarono alle acque di contraddizione, e patì Mosé della loro colpa, perché avevano perturbato il suo spirito.	32 And they provoked him at the Waters of Contradiction, and Moses was afflicted because of them,
33 E fu dubitoso nel suo parlare. Essi non dispersero le nazioni com'egli avea loro intimato.	33 for they exasperated his spirit. And so he divided them with his lips.
34 E si mischiarono colle genti, e impararono i loro costumi, e rendettcr culto a' loro idoli: e ciò divenne per essi pietra d'inciampo.	34 They did not destroy the nations, about which the Lord had spoken to them.
35 E immolarono i loro figliuoli, e le loro figliuole ai demonj.	35 And they were mixed among the Gentiles. And they learned their works,
36 E sparsero il sangue innocente; il sangue de' proprj figliuoli, e delle figliuole sacrificate da loro agli idoli di Cuanaan.	36 and they served their graven images, and it became a scandal to them.
37 E fu infettata la terra per lo spargimento del sangue, e fu contaminata dalle opere loro, e si prostituirono ai loro ritrovamenti.	37 And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
38 E il Signore si accese d'ira, e di furore contro il suo popolo, e prese in abominio la sua eredità.	38 And they shed innocent blood: the blood of their sons and of their daughters, which they sacrificed to the graven images of Canaan. And the land was infected with bloodshed,
39 E li diede in potere delle unzioni, ed ebber dominio di essi quei, che gli odiavano.	39 and was contaminated with their works. And they fornicated according to their own inventions.
40 E i loro nemici li trattarono duramente, e sotto il potere di questi ei furono umiliati: sovente Dio ne li liberò.	40 And the Lord became furiously angry with his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.
41 Ma eglino lo esacerbarono co' loro consiglj, e furono umiliati per le loro iniquità.	41 And he delivered them into the hands of the nations. And those who hated them became rulers over them.
42 E li rimirò quand'erano nella tribolazione, e udì la loro orazione.	42 And their enemies afflicted them, and they were humbled under their hands.
43 E si ricordò di sua alleanza, e per la molta sua misericordia si ripentì.	43 Many times, he delivered them. Yet they provoked him with their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquities.
44 E fe', che trovasser misericordia presso tutti quei, che gli aveano fatti schiavi.	44 And he saw that they were in tribulation, and he heard their prayer.
45 Salvaci, o Signore Dio nostro, e raccoglici di tra le nazioni,	45 And he was mindful of his covenant, and he repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
46 Affinché confessiamo il tuo santo nome, e ci gloriamo in te degno di ogni laude.	46 And he provided for them with mercies, in the sight of all those who had seized them.
47 Benedetto il Signore Dio di Israele ab eterno, e in eterno: e dirà tutto il popolo: così sia, così sia.	47 Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may confess your holy name and glory in your praise.
	48 Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, from ages past, even to all ages. And let all the people say: Amen. Amen.
