Salmi 48

1 Udite queste cose, o nazioni quante voi siete: porgete le vostre orecchie, tutti voi abitatori della terra:	1 Unto the end. A Psalm to the sons of Korah.
2 E voi di stirpe oscura, e voi di nobil lignaggio: il povero insieme, ed il ricco.	2 Hear these things, all nations. Pay attention, all inhabitants of the world:
3 La mia bocca parlerà saggezza; e la meditazione del mio spirito parole di prudenza.	3 whoever is earth-born, you sons of men, together as one, the rich and the poor.
4 Terre intente le orecchie alla parabola: esporrò sul saltero il mio tema.	4 My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will speak prudence.
5 Per qual ragione sarò io timoroso nel cattivo giorno? l'iniquità delle opere mie mi premerà d'ogni parte.	5 I will incline my ear to a parable. I will open my case with the psaltery.
6 Cosi quelli, che si confidano nella loro potenza, e si gloriano dell'abbondanza di lor ricchezze.	6 Why should I fear in the evil day? The iniquity at my heel will surround me.
7 Il fratello non riscatta, e un altr'uomo riscatterà? nissuno darà a Dio cosa atta a placarlo,	7 Those who trust in their own strength and who glory in the multitude of their riches,
8 Né il prezzo di riscatto per l'anima sua: ed ei sarà eternamente nell'afflizione,	8 no brother redeems, nor will man buy back. He will not give to God his appeasement,
9 E tuttavia viverà perpetuamente.	9 nor the price for the redemption of his soul. And he will labor continuously,
10 Non vedrà egli la morte, mentre ha veduto, che muoiono i saggi? l'insensato, e lo stolto perirerà egualmente.	10 and he will still live, until the end.
11 E lasceranno le loro ricchezze ad estranei, e i loro sepolcri saranno le loro case in eterno, E i loro tabernacoli per tutte le generazioni: diedero essi i loro nomi alle loro terre.	11 He will not see death, when he sees the wise dying: the foolish and the senseless will perish together. And they will leave their riches to strangers.
12 E l'uomo posto in nobile condizione non ha avuto discernimento; è stato paragonato ai giumenti senza ragione, ed è divenuto simile ad essi.	12 And their sepulchers will be their houses forever, their tabernacles from generation to generation. They have called their names in their own lands.
13 Questo far di costoro è per essi uno scandalo, e quelli, che vengon dopo si compiaceranno de' lor dettati.	13 And man, when he was held in honor, did not understand. He has been compared to the senseless beasts, and he has become like them.
14 Sono stati messi nell'inferno a gregge, come le pecore: saran pascolo della morte. E i giusti al mattino avran dominio sopra di essi: e dopo la loro gloria ogni soccorso verrà meno per essi nell'inferno.	14 This way of theirs is a scandal to them. And afterwards, they will delight in their mouth.
15 Iddio però riscatterà l'anima mia dal potere dell'inferno, quando egli mi prenderà.	15 They have been placed in Hell like sheep. Death will feed on them. And the just will have dominion over them in the morning. And their help will grow old in Hell for their glory.
16 Non ti faccia specie, quando un uomo sia diventato ricco, e sia cresciuta: in gloria la casa di lui.	16 Even so, truly God will redeem my soul from the hand of Hell, when he will receive me.
17 Imperocché morto che sia non porterà nulla seco, e non andrà dietro a lui la sua gloria.	17 Do not be afraid, when a man will have been made rich, and when the glory of his house will have been multiplied.
18 Imperocché sarà benedetta l'anima di lui, mentre ei viverà: ti loderà quando tu gli avrai fatto del bene.	18 For when he dies, he will take nothing away, and his glory will not descend with him.
19 Anderà fin laggiù a trovare la progenie de' padri suoi, e non vedrà lume in eterno.	19 For his soul will be blessed in his lifetime, and he will admit to you when you do good to him.
20 L'uomo posto in nobile condizione non ha avuto discernimento: è stato paragonato a' giumenti senza ragione, ed è divenuto simile ad essi.	20 He will even enter with the progeny of his fathers, but, even in eternity, he will not see the light.
	21 Man, when he was in honor, did not understand. He has been compared to the senseless beasts, and he has become like them.
