1 Salmo di Davidde servo del Signore il quale indirizzò al Signore le parole di questo cantico nel giorno, in cui liberollo il Signore dalle mani di tutti i suoi nemici, e dalle mani di Saul, onde disse: Te amerò io, o Signore, fortezza mia:	1 Unto the end. For David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this canticle to the Lord, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
2 Il Signore mia fermezza, e mio rifugio, e mio liberatore. Il mio Dio, mio soccorso, e in lui spererò. Protettor mio, e mia potente salute, e mio difensore.	2 I will love you, O Lord my strength.
3 Loderò, e invocherò il Signore, e sarò liberato da' miei nemici.	3 The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my liberator. My God is my helper, and I hope in him: my protector, and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
4 Mi circondarono i dolori di morte, e i torrenti d'iniquità mi atterrirono.	4 Praising, I will call upon the Lord. And I will be saved from my enemies.
5 Mi circondarono i dolori d'inferno, mi impigliarono i lacci di morte.	5 The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the torrents of iniquity dismayed me.
6 Nella mia tribolazione invocai il Signore, e al mio Dio alzai le mie grida, Ed egli dal santo tempio suo esaudì la mia voce, e il gridar ch' io feci dinanzi a lui alle orecchie di lui arrivò.	6 The sorrows of Hell encompassed me, and the snares of death intercepted me.
7 Si commosse, e fu in tremore la terra; agitate furono, e scosse le fondamenta delle montagne, perché egli era sdegnato con essi.	7 In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord, and I cried out to my God. And he listened to my voice from his holy temple. And my cry in his presence entered into his ears.
8 Dall'ira di lui saliva il fumo, e fuoco ardeva nella sua faccia: da questo furono accesi i carboni.	8 The earth was shaken, and it trembled. The foundations of the mountains were disturbed, and they were shaken, because he was angry with them.
9 Abbassò i cieli, e discese, e una nebbia caliginosa era sotto i suoi piedi.	9 A smoke ascended by his wrath, and a fire flared up from his face: coals were kindled by it.
10 E salì sopra i Cherubini, e sciolse il suo volo: volò sull'ale de' venti.	10 He bent the heavens, and they descended. And darkness was under his feet.
11 Si occultò nelle tenebre, nel padiglione, che d'ogni parte il copriva (che è) la nera acqua delle nubi dell'aria.	11 And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew: he flew upon the feathers of the winds.
12 Al fulgore di sua presenza si sciolser le nubi (e ne venne) grandine, e carboni di fuoco:	12 And he set darkness as his hiding place, with his tabernacle all around him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.
13 E tuonò il Signore dal cielo, e l'Altissimo bociò: grandine, e carboni di fuoco.	13 At the brightness that was before his sight, the clouds crossed by, with hail and coals of fire.
14 E vibrò sue saette, e li dissipò: mandò in copia le folgora, e gli atterrì.	14 And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice: hail and coals of fire.
15 E si rendetter visibili le sorgive delle acque, e si scoprirono i fondamenti della terra. Per effetto di tue minacce, o Signore (per effetto) dello spirare del fiato dell'ira tua.	15 And he sent forth his arrows and scattered them. He multiplied lightnings, and he set them in disarray.
16 Mi porse la mano dall'alto; e mi prese, e dalle molte acque mi trasse.	16 Then the fountains of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were revealed, by your rebuke, O Lord, by the inspiration of the Spirit of your wrath.
17 Liberommi da' potentissimi miei nemici, e da color che mi odiavano, ed erano più forti di me:	17 He sent from on high, and he accepted me. And he took me up, out of many waters.
18 Venner sopra di me repentinamente nel giorno di mia afflizione: ma il Signore si fè mio protettore.	18 He rescued me from my strongest enemies, and from those who hated me. For they had been too strong for me.
19 Trassemi fuora all'aperto: mi fece salvo, perché mi amò.	19 They intercepted me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my protector.
20 E il Signore renderà a me seconda la mia giustizia, renderà a me secondo la purezza delle mie mani:	20 And he led me out, into a wide place. He accomplished my salvation, because he willed me.
21 Perché io seguitai attentamente le vie del Signore, ed empiamente non operai contro il mio Dio.	21 And the Lord will reward me according to my justice, and he will repay me according to the purity of my hands.
22 Perché io ho davanti agli occhi tatti i suoi giudizj, e i suoi comandamenti non ho rigettati lungi da me.	22 For I have preserved the ways of the Lord, and I have not behaved impiously before my God.
23 E sarò senza macchia dinanzi a lui, e mi guarderò dalla mia iniquità.	23 For all his judgments are in my sight, and his justice, I have not pushed away from me.
24 E il Signore renderà a me secondo la mia giustizia, e secondo la purezza delle mani mie, ch'ei vede cogli occhi suoi.	24 And I will be immaculate together with him, and I will keep myself from my iniquity.
25 Col santo tu sarai santo, e coll'uomo innocente sarai innocente:	25 And the Lord will reward me according to my justice and according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.
26 Coll'uomo sincero sarai sincero, e con chi mal fa tu sarai malfacente.	26 With the holy, you will be holy, and with the innocent, you will be innocent,
27 Perocché tu salverai il popolo umile, e umilierai gli occhi degli orgogliosi.	27 and with the elect, you will be elect, and with the perverse, you will be perverse.
28 Perchè tu, o Signore, alla mia lampa dai luce: Dio mio, rischiara tu le tenebre mie.	28 For you will save the humble people, but you will bring down the eyes of the arrogant.
29 Imperocché per te sarò tratto fuori dalla tentazione, e col mio Dio sormonterò le muraglie.	29 For you illuminate my lamp, O Lord. My God, enlighten my darkness.
30 Immacolata ell'è la via del mio Dio; le parole del Signore son provate col fuoco: egli è protettore di tutti quelli, che sperano in lui.	30 For in you, I will be delivered from temptation; and with my God, I will climb over a wall.
31 Imperocché chi è Dio fuori che il Signore? e chi è Dio fuori che il nostro Dio?	31 As for my God, his way is undefiled. The eloquence of the Lord has been examined by fire. He is the protector of all who hope in him.
32 Dio che mi cinse di robustezza, e la via ch'io batto rendette immacolata.	32 For who is God, except the Lord? And who is God, except our God?
33 Che fece i miei piedi simili a quei de' cervi, e in luogo sublime mi ha collocato.	33 It is God who has wrapped me with virtue and made my way immaculate.
34 Che insegna alle mie mani la guerra: e tu le mie braccia facesti quasi arco di bronzo.	34 It is he who has perfected my feet, like the feet of deer, and who stations me upon the heights.
35 E mi desti in mia difesa la tua salute, e la destra tua mi sostenne: E la tua disciplina mi corresse in ogni tempo, e la tua disciplina stessa mi istruirà.	35 It is he who trains my hands for battle. And you have set my arms like a bow of brass.
36 Tu allargasti le vie ai miei passi, e le mie gambe non vacillarono.	36 And you have given me the protection of your salvation. And your right hand sustains me. And your discipline has corrected me unto the end. And your discipline itself will teach me.
37 Terrò dietro a' miei nemici, e li raggiungerò, e non tornerò indietro fin ché siano consunti.	37 You have expanded my footsteps under me, and my tracks have not been weakened.
38 Gli abbatterò, e non potranno più reggersi; cadranno sotto i miei piedi.	38 I will pursue my enemies and apprehend them. And I will not turn back until they have failed.
39 E tu mi cingesti di valore per la guerra, e facesti cadere sotto di me quei, che si levavano contro di me.	39 I will break them, and they will not be able to stand. They will fall under my feet.
40 E a' miei nemici facesti volger la schiena, e dispergesti color, che mi odiavano.	40 And you have wrapped me with virtue for the battle. And those rising up against me, you have subdued under me.
41 Alzaron le grida, e non era chi li salvasse: (alzaron lo grida) al Signore, e non gli esaudì.	41 And you have given the back of my enemies to me, and you have destroyed those who hated me.
42 Li stritolerò come al soffiar del vento la polvere: come il loto delle piazze io li conculcherò.	42 They cried out, but there was none to save them, to the Lord, but he did not heed them.
43 Tu mi salverai dalle contraddizioni del popolo: mi stabilirai capo delle nazioni.	43 And I will crush them into dust before the face of the wind, so that I will obliterate them like the mud in the streets.
44 Un popolo, ch'io non conosceva mi ha servito: tosto che ebbe udito si rese a me obbediente.	44 You will rescue me from the contradictions of the people. You will set me at the head of the Gentiles.
45 I figliuoli adulteri negarono fede a me: i figliuoli adulteri sono alla vecchiaia, e zoppicando van fuori di loro strada.	45 A people I did not know has served me. As soon as their ears heard, they were obedient to me.
46 Viva il Signore, e diasi benedizione al mio Dio, e sia glorificato il Dio di mia salute.	46 The sons of foreigners have been deceitful to me, the sons of foreigners have grown weak with time, and they have wavered from their paths.
47 Dio, che a me dai potere per far vendetta, e soggetti a me le nazioni, tu che mi salvasti dall'ira de' miei nemici.	47 The Lord lives, and blessed is my God, and may the God of my salvation be exalted:
48 E sopra color, che si levano contro di me, tu mi innalzerai; mi torrai dalle mani dell'uomo iniquo.	48 O God, who vindicates me and who subdues the people under me, my liberator from my enraged enemies.
49 Per questo ti loderò io, o Signore, tralle nazioni, e canterò inni al nome tuo.	49 And you will exalt me above those who rise up against me. From the iniquitous man, you will rescue me.
50 A lui, il quale maravigliosamente ha salvato il suo re, e fa misericordia a Davidde suo cristo, e al seme di lui pe' secoli.	50 Because of this, O Lord, I will confess to you among the nations, and I will compose a psalm to your name:
	51 magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring, even for all time.
