1 Salmo di intelligenza: di Asaph. E perchè, o Dio ci hai tu rigettati per sempre, si è infiammato il tuo sdegno contro le pecorelle della tua greggia?	1 The understanding of Asaph. O God, why have you rejected us to the end. Why has your fury become enraged over the sheep of your pasture?
2 Ricordati della tua congregazione, che tua fu fin da principio. Tu comperasti il dominio di tua eredità: il monte di Sion fu il luogo di tua abitazione.	2 Be mindful of your congregation, which you have possessed from the beginning. You redeemed the scepter of your inheritance, mount Zion, in which you have dwelt.
3 Alza per sempre il tuo braccio contro la loro superbia: quanti mali ha commesso il nemico nel santuario!	3 Lift up your hands against their arrogance in the end. How great the malice of the enemy has been in the sanctuary!
4 E color che ti odiano se ne vantarono nel luogo stesso delle tue sommita.	4 And those who hate you have been glorified, in the midst of your solemnity. They have set up their own signs as a proof,
5 Hanno poste (e non v' han fatto riflessione) le loro insegne; le insegne sulla sommità del tempio, come ad un capo di strada.	5 as if it had been issued from on high; yet they did not understand. As in a forest of chopped wood,
6 Hanno similmente spezzate con accette le sue porte, come si fa degli alberi nella foresta: colle scure, e colle accette lo hanno atterrato.	6 they have cut down the entrances themselves. With axe and hatchet, they have brought it down.
7 Han dato fuoco al tuo santuario: han profanato il tabernacolo, che tu avevi sopra la terra.	7 They have set fire to your Sanctuary. They have polluted the tabernacle of your name on earth.
8 Ha detto in cuor suo tutta la loro nazione: Leviam di sopra la terra tutti i giorni consagrati al culto di Dio.	8 They have said in their heart, the whole group of them together: “Let us cause all the feast days of God to cease from the land.
9 E noi non veggiam que' nostri prodigj, né v' ha pia alcun profeta, ed egli più non ci riconosce.	9 We have not seen our proof; there is now no prophet. And he will no longer know us.”
10 E fino a quando, o Dio, insulterà l'inimico, e l'avversario bestemmierà continuamente il tuo nome?	10 How long, O God, will the enemy place blame? Is the adversary to provoke your name until the end?
11 E perché ritiri tu la tua mano? tira fuor dal tuo seno la tua destra una volta per sempre.	11 Why do you turn your hand away, even your right hand, from the midst of your sinews, until the end?
12 Ma Dio, il quale da' secoli è nostro Re ha operato salute nel mezzo della terra.	12 But God is our king before all ages. He has wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.
13 Tu desti col tuo potere saldezza al mare: tu le teste de' dragoni conculcasti nelle acque.	13 In your virtue, you confirmed the sea. You crushed the heads of the serpents in the waters.
14 Tu spezzasti le teste del dragone; gli facesti preda de' popoli dell'Etiopia.	14 You have broken the heads of the serpent. You have given him as food for the people of the Ethiopians.
15 Tu apristi le rupi in fontane, e torrenti: tu asciugasti i fiumi nella loro forza.	15 You have disrupted the fountains and the torrents. You have dried up the rivers of Ethan.
16 Tuo è il giorno e tua è la notte: tu creasti l'aurora, ed il sole.	16 Yours is the day, and yours is the night. You have made the morning light and the sun.
17 Tu facesti la terra, e i suoi confini: opera tua sono e l'estate, e la primavera.	17 You have made all the limits of the earth. The summer and the spring were formed by you.
18 Di queste cose ricordati. Il nemico ha detti improperj contro il Signore: e un popolo stolto ha bestemmiato il tuo nome.	18 Be mindful of this: the enemy placed blame against the Lord, and a foolish people has incited against your name.
19 Non dare in poter delle bestie le anime di quelli, che te onorano, e non ti scordar per sempre dell'anime de' tuoi poveri.	19 Do not hand over to beasts the souls that confess to you; and do not forget the souls of your poor until the end.
20 Volgi lo sguardo alla tua alleanza; perocché i più oscuri nomini della terra hanno copia di case iniquamente occupate.	20 Consider your covenant. For those who have been darkened upon the earth have been filled by the iniquity of the houses.
21 L'uomo umiliato non si parta (da te) svergognato: il povero, e il bisognoso daran lodi al tuo nome.	21 Do not allow the humble to be turned away in confusion. The poor and the needy will praise your name.
22 Levati su, o Signore, giudica la tua causa: ricordati degli oltraggi fatti a te, di quelli, che un popolo stolto ti fa tutto giorno.	22 Rise up, O God, judge your own case. Call to mind the accusations against you, which are made by the foolish all day long.
23 Non ti scordare delle voci de' tuoi nemici: la soperbia di color, che ti odiano va sempre in su.	23 Do not forget the voices of your adversaries. The arrogance of those who hate you rises up continually.
