1 Sopra i cantici, salmo di intelligenza, di Davidde. Esaudisci, o Dio, la mia orazione, e non disprezzare le mie suppliche: volgi a me il tuo sguardo, ed esaudiscimi.	1 Unto the end. In verses, the understanding of David.
2 Mi son rattristato nella mia meditazione, e son rimaso conturbato alle, voci dell'inimico, e per la persecuzione, del peccatore.	2 Listen to my prayer, O God, and despise not my supplication.
3 Imperocché mi hanno gettate addosso delle iniquità, e mi contrariano con isdegno.	3 Be attentive to me, and heed me. I have been grieved in my training, and I have been disturbed
4 Il mio cuore mi trema nel petto, e un terrore di morte è caduto sopra di me.	4 at the voice of the adversary and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have diverted iniquities toward me, and they have been harassing me with rage.
5 Il timore, e il tremore mi han sorpreso, e nelle tenebre sono involto:	5 My heart has become disturbed within me, and the dread of death has fallen over me.
6 E ho detto: Chi mi darà ali come di colomba, e volerò, e avrò riposo?	6 Fear and trembling have overwhelmed me, and darkness has buried me.
7 Ecco, che io fuggirei lontano, e mi terrei nella solitudine.	7 And I said, “Who will give me wings like the dove, so that I may fly away and take rest?”
8 Aspetto lui, che mi salvò dall'abbattimento di spirito, e dalle procelle.	8 Behold, I have fled far away, and I linger in solitude.
9 Disperdigli, o Signore, confondi le loro lingue, perché io ho veduta l'ingiustizia, e la contraddizione nella città.	9 I waited for him who saved me from a weak-minded spirit and from a tempest.
10 Dì, e notte va attorno sopra le mura di lei l'iniquità, e nel mezzo di essa la vessazione, e l'ingiustizia.	10 Cast them down, O Lord, and divide their tongues. For I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.
11 E non si parte dalle piazze di lei l'usura, e la frode.	11 Day and night, iniquity will surround it upon its walls, and hardship is in its midst,
12 Che se un mio nemico avesse parlato male di me, certamente avrei pazientato. E se uno di que', che mi odiavano avesse detto improperj grandi contro di me, avrei forse potuto guardarmi da lui.	12 with injustice. And usury and deceit have not fallen away from its streets.
13 Ma tu, o uomo, di un solo spirito con me, mio soprintendente, e mio familiare.	13 For if my enemy had spoken evil about me, certainly, I would have sustained it. And if he who hated me had been speaking great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
14 Tu, che insieme meco prendevi il dolce cibo, camminammo daccordo nella casa di Dio.	14 Truly, you are a man of one mind: my leader and my acquaintance,
15 Venga sopra costoro la morte, e vivi scendano nell'inferno: Perocché ogni malvagità è nei loro ridotti, e ne' cuori loro.	15 who took sweet food together with me. In the house of God, we walked side-by-side.
16 Ma io alzai a Dio le mie grida, e il Signore mi salverà.	16 Let death come upon them, and let them descend alive into Hellfire. For there is wickedness in their dwellings, in their midst.
17 Alla sera, e al mattino, e al mezzodì parlerò, e gemerò, ed egli esaudirà la mia voce.	17 But I have cried out to God, and the Lord will save me.
18 Renderà la pace all'anima mia, liberandola da coloro, che mi assaliscono; perocché sono in compagnia di molti contro di me.	18 Evening and morning and midday, I will discourse and announce, and he will heed my voice.
19 Dio mi esaudirà, e umilierà costoro quegli, che è prima de' secoli; Perocché eglino non si cangiano, e non hanno timore di Dio: egli ha stesa la mano per dare ad essi la retribuzione.	19 He will redeem my soul in peace from those who draw near to me. For, among the many, they were with me.
20 Han profanato il testamento di lui: saran dispersi dall'ira della sua faccia, e il cuore di lui già prende la pugna.	20 God will hear, and He who is before time will humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God.
21 Le parole di lui sono più molli dell'olio, e pur sono saette.	21 He has stretched forth his hand in retribution. They have contaminated his covenant.
22 Getta nel seno del Signore la tua ansietà, ed egli ti sostenterà: ei non farà, che il giusto ondeggi per sempre.	22 They were divided by the wrath of his countenance, and his heart has drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and they are arrows.
23 Ma tu, o Dio, condurrai coloro nella fossa di perdizione. I sanguinari, e i fraudolenti non avran la metà de' loro giorni; ma io in te spererò, o Signore.	23 Cast your cares upon the Lord, and he will nurture you. He will not allow the just to be tossed about forever.
	24 Truly, O God, you will lead them away into the well of death. Bloody and deceitful men will not divide their days in half. But I will hope in you, O Lord.
