1 Cantico de' gradi. Ricordati, o Signore, di Davidde, e di tutta la sua mansuetudine,	1 A Canticle in steps. O Lord, remember David and all his meekness,
2 E del come ei giurò al Signore, o del come fè voto al Dio di Giacobbe,	2 how he swore to the Lord, how he made a vow to the God of Jacob:
3 (Dicendo): Se io entrerò al coperto nella mia casa, se io salirò al mio letto per riposare.	3 I shall not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor climb into the bed where I lie down;
4 Se darò sonno a' miei occhi, e quiete alle mie pupille,	4 I shall not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids
5 E requie alle mie tempia fino a tanto che io trovi un luogo al Signore, un tabernacolo al Dio di Giacobbe.	5 and rest to my temples, until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
6 Ecco che noi udimmo come (sua sede) era in Ephrata: la trovammo nei campi selvosi.	6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We discovered it in the fields of the forest.
7 Entreremo nel suo tabernacolo: lo adoreremo nel luogo dove i suoi piedi si posarono.	7 We will enter into his tabernacle. We will adore in the place where his feet stood.
8 Su via, o Signore, vieni nella tua requie: tu, e l'arca di tua santità.	8 Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You and the ark of your sanctification.
9 I tuoi sacerdoti si rivestano di giustizia, ed esultino i tuoi santi.	9 Let your priests be clothed with justice, and let your saints exult.
10 Per amor di Davidde tuo servo non allontanare la presenza del tuo Cristo.	10 For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your Christ.
11 Signore ha fatto promessa giurata, e verace a Davidde, e non la renderà vana; la tua prole porrò io sul tuo trono.	11 The Lord has sworn the truth to David, and he will not disappoint: I will set upon your throne from the fruit of your lineage.
12 Se i tuoi figliuoli saran fedeli al mio testamento, e ai precetti, che io ad essi insegnerò:	12 If your sons will keep my covenant and these, my testimonies, which I will teach to them, then their sons will sit upon your throne even forever.
13 I loro figliuoli ancora in perpetuo sederanno sopra il tuo trono.	13 For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has chosen it as his dwelling place.
14 Perché il Signore si è eletta Sionne: se, la è eletta per sua abitazione, (dicendo):	14 This is my resting place, forever and ever. Here I will dwell, for I have chosen it.
15 Questa è la mia requie pe' secoli: qui io abiterò, percbè me la sono eletta.	15 When blessing, I will bless her widow. I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 La sua vedova benedirò largamente: satollerò di pane i suoi poveri.	16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will rejoice with great joy.
17 I suoi sacerdoti rivestirò di santità, ed esulteranno grandemente i suoi santi.	17 There, I will produce a horn to David. There, I have prepared a lamp for my Christ.
18 Ivi farò, che a Davidde spunti regal possanza: ho preparata al mio Cristo una mia lampana.	18 I will clothe his enemies with confusion. But my sanctification will flourish over him.
19 I nemici di lui coprirò di confusione: ma in lui fiorirà la mia santità.
