3 BETH. In Domino gloriabitur anima mea, audiant mansueti et laetentur. | 3 My soul will glory in the LORD that the poor may hear and be glad. |
4 GHIMEL. Magnificate Dominum mecum, et exaltemus nomen eius in idipsum. | 4 Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. |
5 DALETH. Exquisivi Dominum, et exaudivit me et ex omnibus terroribus meis eripuit me. | 5 I sought the LORD, who answered me, delivered me from all my fears. |
6 HE. Respicite ad eum, et illuminamini, et facies vestrae non confundentur. | 6 Look to God that you may be radiant with joy and your faces may not blush for shame. |

10 IOD. Timete Dominum, sancti eius, quoniam non est inopia timentibus eum. | 10 Fear the LORD, you holy ones; nothing is lacking to those who fear him. |
11 CAPH. Divites eguerunt et esurierunt, inquirentes autem Dominum non deficient omni bono. | 11 The powerful grow poor and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. |
12 LAMED. Venite, filii, audite me: timorem Domini docebo vos. | 12 Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. |
13 MEM. Quis est homo, qui vult vitam, diligit dies, ut videat bonum? - | 13 Who among you loves life, takes delight in prosperous days? |
14 NUN. Prohibe linguam tuam a malo, et labia tua, ne loquantur dolum. | 14 Keep your tongue from evil, your lips from speaking lies. |
15 SAMECH. Diverte a malo et fac bonum, inquire pacem et persequere eam. | 15 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. |
16 AIN. Oculi Domini super iustos, et aures eius in clamorem eorum. | 16 The LORD has eyes for the just and ears for their cry. |
17 PHE. Vultus autem Domini super facientes mala, ut perdat de terra memoriam eorum. | 17 The LORD'S face is against evildoers to wipe out their memory from the earth. |
18 SADE. Clamaverunt, et Dominus exaudivit et ex omnibus tribulationibus eorum liberavit eos. | 18 When the just cry out, the LORD hears and rescues them from all distress. |
19 COPH. Iuxta est Dominus iis, qui contrito sunt corde, et confractos spiritu salvabit. | 19 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed. |
20 RES. Multae tribulationes iustorum, et de omnibus his liberabit eos Dominus. | 20 Many are the troubles of the just, but the LORD delivers from them all. |
21 SIN. Custodit omnia ossa eorum, unum ex his non conteretur. | 21 God watches over all their bones; not a one shall be broken. |
22 TAU. Interficiet peccatorem malitia; et, qui oderunt iustum, punientur. | 22 Evil will slay the wicked; those who hate the just are condemned. |
23 PHE. Redimet Dominus animas servorum suorum; et non punientur omnes, qui sperant in eo. | 23 The LORD redeems loyal servants; no one is condemned whose refuge is God. |
