NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Exsultate, iusti, in Domino; rectos decet collaudatio.	1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.
2 Confitemini Domino in cithara, in psalterio decem chordarum psallite illi.	2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 Cantate ei canticum novum, bene psallite ei in vociferatione,	3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.
4 quia rectum est verbum Domini, et omnia opera eius in fide.	4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.
5 Diligit iustitiam et iudicium; misericordia Domini plena est terra.	5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.
6 Verbo Domini caeli facti sunt, et spiritu oris eius omnis virtus eorum.	6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.
7 Congregans sicut in utre aquas maris, ponens in thesauris abyssos.	7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.
8 Timeat Dominum omnis terra, a facie autem eius formident omnes inhabitantes orbem.	8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;
9 Quoniam ipse dixit, et facta sunt, ipse mandavit, et creata sunt.	9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!
10 Dominus dissipat consilia gentium, irritas facit cogitationes populorum.	10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;
11 Consilium autem Domini in aeternum manet, cogitationes cordis eius in generatione et generationem.	11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.
12 Beata gens, cui Dominus est Deus, populus, quem elegit in hereditatem sibi.	12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.
13 De caelo respexit Dominus, vidit omnes filios hominum.	13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,
14 De loco habitaculi sui respexit super omnes, qui habitant terram,	14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;
15 qui finxit singillatim corda eorum, qui intellegit omnia opera eorum.	15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.
16 Non salvatur rex per multam virtutem, et gigas non liberabitur in multitudine virtutis suae.	16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;
17 Fallax equus ad salutem, in abundantia autem virtutis suae non salvabit.	17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.
18 Ecce oculi Domini super metuentes eum, in eos, qui sperant super misericordia eius,	18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,
19 ut eruat a morte animas eorum et alat eos in fame.	19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20 Anima nostra sustinet Dominum, quoniam adiutor et protector noster est;	20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,
21 quia in eo laetabitur cor nostrum, et in nomine sancto eius speravimus.	21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.
22 Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te.	22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.
