1 Salmo. Di Asaf.Quanto è buono Dio con gli uomini retti,Dio con i puri di cuore!	1 A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to the upright, the Lord, to those who are clean of heart!
2 Ma io per poco non inciampavo,quasi vacillavano i miei passi,	2 I But, as for me, I lost my balance; my feet all but slipped,
3 perché ho invidiato i prepotenti,vedendo il successo dei malvagi.	3 Because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Fino alla morte infatti non hanno sofferenzee ben pasciuto è il loro ventre.	4 For they suffer no pain; their bodies are healthy and sleek.
5 Non si trovano mai nell’affanno dei mortalie non sono colpiti come gli altri uomini.	5 They are free of the burdens of life; they are not afflicted like others.
6 Dell’orgoglio si fanno una collanae indossano come abito la violenza.	6 Thus pride adorns them as a necklace; violence clothes them as a robe.
7 I loro occhi sporgono dal grasso,dal loro cuore escono follie.	7 Out of their stupidity comes sin; evil thoughts flood their hearts.
8 Scherniscono e parlano con malizia,parlano dall’alto con prepotenza.	8 They scoff and spout their malice; from on high they utter threats.
9 Aprono la loro bocca fino al cieloe la loro lingua percorre la terra.	9 They set their mouths against the heavens, their tongues roam the earth.
10 Perciò il loro popolo li seguee beve la loro acqua in abbondanza.	10 So my people turn to them and drink deeply of their words.
11 E dicono: «Dio, come può saperlo?L’Altissimo, come può conoscerlo?».	11 They say, "Does God really know?" "Does the Most High have any knowledge?"
12 Ecco, così sono i malvagi:sempre al sicuro, ammassano ricchezze.	12 Such, then, are the wicked, always carefree, increasing their wealth.
13 Invano dunque ho conservato puro il mio cuore,e ho lavato nell’innocenza le mie mani!	13 Is it in vain that I have kept my heart clean, washed my hands in innocence?
14 Perché sono colpito tutto il giornoe fin dal mattino sono castigato?	14 For I am afflicted day after day, chastised every morning.
15 Se avessi detto: «Parlerò come loro»,avrei tradito la generazione dei tuoi figli.	15 Had I thought, "I will speak as they do," I would have betrayed your people.
16 Riflettevo per comprendere questoma fu una fatica ai miei occhi,	16 Though I tried to understand all this, it was too difficult for me,
17 finché non entrai nel santuario di Dioe compresi quale sarà la loro fine.	17 Till I entered the sanctuary of God and came to understand their end.
18 Ecco, li poni in luoghi scivolosi,li fai cadere in rovina.	18 You set them, indeed, on a slippery road; you hurl them down to ruin.
19 Sono distrutti in un istante!Sono finiti, consumati dai terrori!	19 How suddenly they are devastated; undone by disasters forever!
20 Come un sogno al risveglio, Signore,così, quando sorgi, fai svanire la loro immagine.	20 They are like a dream after waking, Lord, dismissed like shadows when you arise.
21 Quando era amareggiato il mio cuoree i miei reni trafitti dal dolore,	21 Since my heart was embittered and my soul deeply wounded,
22 io ero insensato e non capivo,stavo davanti a te come una bestia.	22 I was stupid and could not understand; I was like a brute beast in your presence.
23 Ma io sono sempre con te:tu mi hai preso per la mano destra.	23 Yet I am always with you; you take hold of my right hand.
24 Mi guiderai secondo i tuoi disegnie poi mi accoglierai nella gloria.	24 With your counsel you guide me, and at the end receive me with honor.
25 Chi avrò per me nel cielo?Con te non desidero nulla sulla terra.	25 Whom else have I in the heavens? None beside you delights me on earth.
26 Vengono meno la mia carne e il mio cuore;ma Dio è roccia del mio cuore,mia parte per sempre.	26 Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever.
27 Ecco, si perderà chi da te si allontana;tu distruggi chiunque ti è infedele.	27 But those who are far from you perish; you destroy those unfaithful to you.
28 Per me, il mio bene è stare vicino a Dio;nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio,per narrare tutte le tue opere.	28 As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord GOD my refuge. I shall declare all your works in the gates of daughter Zion.
