1 Alleluia.Rendete grazie al Signore, perché è buono,perché il suo amore è per sempre.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!
2 Chi può narrare le prodezze del Signore,far risuonare tutta la sua lode?	2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?
3 Beati coloro che osservano il dirittoe agiscono con giustizia in ogni tempo.	3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!
4 Ricòrdati di me, Signore, per amore del tuo popolo,visitami con la tua salvezza,	4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,
5 perché io veda il bene dei tuoi eletti,gioisca della gioia del tuo popolo,mi vanti della tua eredità.	5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.
6 Abbiamo peccato con i nostri padri,delitti e malvagità abbiamo commesso.	6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;
7 I nostri padri, in Egitto,non compresero le tue meraviglie,non si ricordarono della grandezza del tuo amoree si ribellarono presso il mare, presso il Mar Rosso.	7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;
8 Ma Dio li salvò per il suo nome,per far conoscere la sua potenza.	8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.
9 Minacciò il Mar Rosso e fu prosciugato,li fece camminare negli abissi come nel deserto.	9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,
10 Li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava,li riscattò dalla mano del nemico.	10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.
11 L’acqua sommerse i loro avversari,non ne sopravvisse neppure uno.	11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.
12 Allora credettero alle sue parolee cantarono la sua lode.	12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.
13 Presto dimenticarono le sue opere,non ebbero fiducia nel suo progetto,	13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;
14 arsero di desiderio nel desertoe tentarono Dio nella steppa.	14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.
15 Concesse loro quanto chiedevanoe li saziò fino alla nausea.	15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;
16 Divennero gelosi di Mosè nell’accampamentoe di Aronne, il consacrato del Signore.	16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.
17 Allora si spalancò la terra e inghiottì Datane ricoprì la gente di Abiràm.	17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;
18 Un fuoco divorò quella gentee una fiamma consumò quei malvagi.	18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.
19 Si fabbricarono un vitello sull’Oreb,si prostrarono a una statua di metallo;	19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;
20 scambiarono la loro gloriacon la figura di un toro che mangia erba.	20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.
21 Dimenticarono Dio che li aveva salvati,che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi,	21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,
22 meraviglie nella terra di Cam,cose terribili presso il Mar Rosso.	22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.
23 Ed egli li avrebbe sterminati,se Mosè, il suo eletto,non si fosse posto sulla breccia davanti a luiper impedire alla sua collera di distruggerli.	23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.
24 Rifiutarono una terra di delizie,non credettero alla sua parola.	24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;
25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende,non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.	25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.
26 Allora egli alzò la mano contro di loro,giurando di abbatterli nel deserto,	26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,
27 di disperdere la loro discendenza tra le nazionie disseminarli nelle loro terre.	27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.
28 Adorarono Baal-Peore mangiarono i sacrifici dei morti.	28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.
29 Lo provocarono con tali azioni,e tra loro scoppiò la peste.	29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.
30 Ma Fineès si alzò per fare giustizia:allora la peste cessò.	30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;
31 Ciò fu considerato per lui un atto di giustiziadi generazione in generazione, per sempre.	31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.
32 Lo irritarono anche alle acque di Merìbae Mosè fu punito per causa loro:	32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,
33 poiché avevano amareggiato il suo spiritoed egli aveva parlato senza riflettere.	33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.
34 Non sterminarono i popolicome aveva ordinato il Signore,	34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,
35 ma si mescolarono con le gentie impararono ad agire come loro.	35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.
36 Servirono i loro idolie questi furono per loro un tranello.	36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,
37 Immolarono i loro figlie le loro figlie ai falsi dèi.	37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.
38 Versarono sangue innocente,il sangue dei loro figli e delle loro figlie,sacrificàti agli idoli di Canaan,e la terra fu profanata dal sangue.	38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.
39 Si contaminarono con le loro opere,si prostituirono con le loro azioni.	39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.
40 L’ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popoloed egli ebbe in orrore la sua eredità.	40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.
41 Li consegnò in mano alle genti,li dominarono quelli che li odiavano.	41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;
42 Li oppressero i loro nemici:essi dovettero piegarsi sotto la loro mano.	42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.
43 Molte volte li aveva liberati,eppure si ostinarono nei loro progettie furono abbattuti per le loro colpe;	43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;
44 ma egli vide la loro angustia,quando udì il loro grido.	44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.
45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza con loroe si mosse a compassione, per il suo grande amore.	45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;
46 Li affidò alla misericordiadi quelli che li avevano deportati.	46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.
47 Salvaci, Signore Dio nostro,radunaci dalle genti,perché ringraziamo il tuo nome santo:lodarti sarà la nostra gloria.	47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.
48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d’Israele,da sempre e per sempre.Tutto il popolo dica: Amen.Alleluia.	48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.
