1 Benedici il Signore, anima mia!Sei tanto grande, Signore, mio Dio!Sei rivestito di maestà e di splendore,	1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
2 avvolto di luce come di un manto,tu che distendi i cieli come una tenda,	2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
3 costruisci sulle acque le tue alte dimore,fai delle nubi il tuo carro,cammini sulle ali del vento,	3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
4 fai dei venti i tuoi messaggerie dei fulmini i tuoi ministri.	4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
5 Egli fondò la terra sulle sue basi:non potrà mai vacillare.	5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
6 Tu l’hai coperta con l’oceano come una veste;al di sopra dei monti stavano le acque.	6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
7 Al tuo rimprovero esse fuggirono,al fragore del tuo tuono si ritrassero atterrite.	7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
8 Salirono sui monti, discesero nelle valli,verso il luogo che avevi loro assegnato;	8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
9 hai fissato loro un confine da non oltrepassare,perché non tornino a coprire la terra.	9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
10 Tu mandi nelle valli acque sorgiveperché scorrano tra i monti,	10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
11 dissetino tutte le bestie dei campie gli asini selvatici estinguano la loro sete.	11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
12 In alto abitano gli uccelli del cieloe cantano tra le fronde.	12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
13 Dalle tue dimore tu irrighi i monti,e con il frutto delle tue opere si sazia la terra.	13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
14 Tu fai crescere l’erba per il bestiamee le piante che l’uomo coltivaper trarre cibo dalla terra,	14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
15 vino che allieta il cuore dell’uomo,olio che fa brillare il suo voltoe pane che sostiene il suo cuore.	15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
16 Sono sazi gli alberi del Signore,i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.	16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
17 Là gli uccelli fanno il loro nidoe sui cipressi la cicogna ha la sua casa;	17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
18 le alte montagne per le capre selvatiche,le rocce rifugio per gli iràci.	18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
19 Hai fatto la luna per segnare i tempie il sole che sa l’ora del tramonto.	19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
20 Stendi le tenebre e viene la notte:in essa si aggirano tutte le bestie della foresta;	20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
21 ruggiscono i giovani leoni in cerca di predae chiedono a Dio il loro cibo.	21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
22 Sorge il sole: si ritiranoe si accovacciano nelle loro tane.	22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
23 Allora l’uomo esce per il suo lavoro,per la sua fatica fino a sera.	23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
24 Quante sono le tue opere, Signore!Le hai fatte tutte con saggezza;la terra è piena delle tue creature.	24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
25 Ecco il mare spazioso e vasto:là rettili e pesci senza numero,animali piccoli e grandi;	25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
26 lo solcano le navie il Leviatàn che tu hai plasmatoper giocare con lui.	26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
27 Tutti da te aspettanoche tu dia loro cibo a tempo opportuno.	27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
28 Tu lo provvedi, essi lo raccolgono;apri la tua mano, si saziano di beni.	28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
29 Nascondi il tuo volto: li assale il terrore;togli loro il respiro: muoiono,e ritornano nella loro polvere.	29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
30 Mandi il tuo spirito, sono creati,e rinnovi la faccia della terra.	30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
31 Sia per sempre la gloria del Signore;gioisca il Signore delle sue opere.	31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
32 Egli guarda la terra ed essa trema,tocca i monti ed essi fumano.	32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
33 Voglio cantare al Signore finché ho vita,cantare inni al mio Dio finché esisto.	33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
34 A lui sia gradito il mio canto,io gioirò nel Signore.	34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
35 Scompaiano i peccatori dalla terrae i malvagi non esistano più.Benedici il Signore, anima mia.Alleluia.	35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
