Salmi 94

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Deus ultionum, Domine, Deus ultionum, effulge.	1 God of vengeance, Yahweh, God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Exaltare, qui iudicas terram, redde retributionem superbis.	2 Arise, judge of the world, give back the proud what they deserve!
3 Usquequo peccatores, Domine, usquequo peccatores exsultabunt?	3 How long are the wicked, Yahweh, how long are the wicked to triumph?
4 Effabuntur et loquentur proterva, gloriabuntur omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem. -	4 They bluster and boast, they flaunt themselves, all the evil-doers.
5 Populum tuum, Domine, humiliant et hereditatem tuam vexant.	5 They crush your people, Yahweh, they oppress your heritage,
6 Viduam et advenam interficiunt et pupillos occidunt.	6 they murder the widow and the stranger, bring the orphan to a violent death.
7 Et dixerunt: “ Non videbit Dominus, nec intelleget Deus Iacob ”.	7 They say, 'Yahweh is not looking, the God of Jacob is taking no notice.'
8 Intellegite, insipientes in populo; et stulti, quando sapietis?	8 Take notice yourselves, you coarsest of people! Fools, when wil you learn some sense?
9 Qui plantavit aurem, non audiet, aut qui finxit oculum, non respiciet?	9 Shal he who implanted the ear not hear, he who fashioned the eye not see?
10 Qui corripit gentes, non arguet, qui docet hominem scientiam?	10 Shal he who instructs nations not punish? Yahweh, the teacher of al people,
11 Dominus scit cogitationes hominum, quoniam vanae sunt.	11 knows human plans and how insipid they are.
12 Beatus homo, quem tu erudieris, Domine, et de lege tua docueris eum,	12 How blessed are those you instruct, Yahweh, whom you teach by means of your law,
13 ut mitiges ei a diebus malis, donec fodiatur peccatori fovea.	13 to give them respite in evil times, til a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 Quia non repellet Dominus plebem suam et hereditatem suam non derelinquet.	14 Yahweh will not abandon his people, he wil not desert his heritage;
15 Quia ad iustitiam revertetur iudicium, et sequentur illam omnes, qui recto sunt corde.	15 for judgement will again become saving justice, and in its wake al upright hearts will fol ow.
16 Quis consurget mihi adversus malignantes, aut quis stabit mecum adversus operantes iniquitatem?	16 Who rises up on my side against the wicked? Who stands firm on my side against al evil-doers?
17 Nisi quia Dominus adiuvit me, paulo minus habitasset in loco silentii anima mea.	17 If Yahweh did not come to my help, I should soon find myself dwel ing in the silence.
18 Si dicebam: “ Motus est pes meus ”, misericordia tua, Domine, sustentabatme.	18 I need only say, 'I am slipping,' for your faithful love, Yahweh, to support me;
19 In multitudine sollicitudinum mearum in corde meo, consolationes tuae laetificaverunt animam meam.	19 however great the anxiety of my heart, your consolations soothe me.
20 Numquid sociabitur tibi sedes iniquitatis, quae fingit molestiam contra praeceptum?	20 Are you partner to a destructive court, that gives disorder the status of law?
21 Irruunt in animam iusti et sanguinem innocentem condemnant.	21 They make an attack on the life of the upright, and condemn innocent blood.
22 Et factus est mihi Dominus in praesidium, et Deus meus in rupem refugii mei;	22 No! Yahweh is a stronghold to me, my God is my rock of refuge.
23 et reddet illis iniquitatem ipsorum et in malitia eorum disperdet eos,	23 He turns back their guilt on themselves, annihilates them for their wickedness, he annihilates them,Yahweh our God.
24 disperdet illos Dominus Deus noster.
