NOVA VULGATANEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 ALLELUIA.
Laudate Dominum, quoniam bonum est psallere Deo nostro,
quoniam iucundum est celebrare laudem.
1 Hallelujah! How good to celebrate our God in song; how sweet to give fitting praise.
2 Aedificans Ierusalem Dominus,
dispersos Israelis congregabit.
2 The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem, gathers the dispersed of Israel,
3 Qui sanat contritos corde
et alligat plagas eorum;
3 Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds,
4 qui numerat multitudinem stellarum
et omnibus eis nomina vocat.
4 Numbers all the stars, calls each of them by name.
5 Magnus Dominus noster et magnus virtute,
sapientiae eius non est numerus.
5 Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure.
6 Sustentat mansuetos Dominus,
humilians autem peccatores usque ad terram.
6 The LORD sustains the poor, but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Praecinite Domino in confessione,
psallite Deo nostro in cithara.
7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; with the lyre celebrate our God,
8 Qui operit caelum nubibus
et parat terrae pluviam.
Qui producit in montibus fenum
et herbam servituti hominum.
8 Who covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, makes grass sprout on the mountains,
9 Qui dat iumentis escam ipsorum
et pullis corvorum invocantibus eum.
9 Who gives animals their food and ravens what they cry for.
10 Non in fortitudine equi delectatur,
nec in tibiis viri beneplacitum est ei.
10 God takes no delight in the strength of horses, no pleasure in the runner's stride.
11 Beneplacitum est Domino super timentes eum
et in eis, qui sperant super misericordia eius.
11 Rather the LORD takes pleasure in the devout, those who await his faithful care.
12 Lauda, Ierusalem, Dominum;
collauda Deum tuum, Sion.
12 Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem; Zion, offer praise to your God,
13 Quoniam confortavit seras portarum tuarum,
benedixit filiis tuis in te.
13 Who has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessed your children within you,
14 Qui ponit fines tuos pacem
et adipe frumenti satiat te.
14 Brought peace to your borders, and filled you with finest wheat.
15 Qui emittit eloquium suum terrae,
velociter currit verbum eius.
15 The LORD sends a command to earth; his word runs swiftly!
16 Qui dat nivem sicut lanam,
pruinam sicut cinerem spargit.
16 Thus snow is spread like wool, frost is scattered like ash,
17 Mittit crystallum suam sicut buccellas;
ante faciem frigoris eius quis sustinebit?
17 Hail is dispersed like crumbs; before such cold the waters freeze.
18 Emittet verbum suum et liquefaciet ea,
flabit spiritus eius, et fluent aquae.
18 Again he sends his word and they melt; the wind is unleashed and the waters flow.
19 Qui annuntiat verbum suum Iacob,
iustitias et iudicia sua Israel.
19 The LORD also proclaims his word to Jacob, decrees and laws to Israel.
20 Non fecit taliter omni nationi
et iudicia sua non manifestavit eis. ALLELUIA.
20 God has not done this for other nations; of such laws they know nothing. Hallelujah!
