1 Di Davide.Signore, accusa chi mi accusa,combatti chi mi combatte.	1 Of David. Oppose, LORD, those who oppose me; war upon those who make war upon me.
2 Afferra scudo e corazzae sorgi in mio aiuto.	2 Take up the shield and buckler; rise up in my defense.
3 Impugna lancia e scure contro chi mi insegue;dimmi: «Sono io la tua salvezza».	3 Brandish lance and battle-ax against my pursuers. Say to my heart, "I am your salvation."
4 Siano svergognati e confusiquanti attentano alla mia vita;retrocedano e siano umiliatiquanti tramano la mia sventura.	4 Let those who seek my life be put to shame and disgrace. Let those who plot evil against me be turned back and confounded.
5 Siano come pula al ventoe l’angelo del Signore li disperda;	5 Make them like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them on.
6 la loro strada sia buia e scivolosaquando l’angelo del Signore li insegue.	6 Make their way slippery and dark, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
7 Poiché senza motivo mi hanno teso una rete,senza motivo mi hanno scavato una fossa.	7 Without cause they set their snare for me; without cause they dug a pit for me.
8 Li colga una rovina improvvisa,li catturi la rete che hanno tesoe nella rovina siano travolti.	8 Let ruin overtake them unawares; let the snare they have set catch them; let them fall into the pit they have dug.
9 Ma l’anima mia esulterà nel Signoree gioirà per la sua salvezza.	9 Then I will rejoice in the LORD, exult in God's salvation.
10 Tutte le mie ossa dicano:«Chi è come te, Signore,che liberi il povero dal più forte,il povero e il misero da chi li rapina?».	10 My very bones shall say, "O LORD, who is like you, Who rescue the afflicted from the powerful, the afflicted and needy from the despoiler?"
11 Sorgevano testimoni violenti,mi interrogavano su ciò che ignoravo,	11 Malicious witnesses come forward, accuse me of things I do not know.
12 mi rendevano male per bene:una desolazione per l’anima mia.	12 They repay me evil for good and I am all alone.
13 Ma io, quand’erano malati, vestivo di sacco,mi affliggevo col digiuno,la mia preghiera riecheggiava nel mio petto.	13 Yet I, when they were ill, put on sackcloth, afflicted myself with fasting, sobbed my prayers upon my bosom.
14 Accorrevo come per un amico, come per un mio fratello,mi prostravo nel dolore come in lutto per la madre.	14 I went about in grief as for my brother, bent in mourning as for my mother.
15 Ma essi godono della mia caduta, si radunano,si radunano contro di me per colpirmi di sorpresa.Mi dilaniano di continuo,	15 Yet when I stumbled they gathered with glee, gathered against me like strangers. They slandered me without ceasing;
16 mi mettono alla prova, mi coprono di scherni;contro di me digrignano i loro denti.	16 without respect they mocked me, gnashed their teeth against me.
17 Fino a quando, Signore, starai a guardare?Libera la mia vita dalla loro violenza,dalle zanne dei leoni l’unico mio bene.	17 Lord, how long will you look on? Save me from roaring beasts, my precious life from lions!
18 Ti renderò grazie nella grande assemblea,ti loderò in mezzo a un popolo numeroso.	18 Then I will thank you in the great assembly; I will praise you before the mighty throng.
19 Non esultino su di me i nemici bugiardi,non strizzino l’occhio quelli che, senza motivo, mi odiano.	19 Do not let lying foes smirk at me, my undeserved enemies wink knowingly.
20 Poiché essi non parlano di pace;contro gente pacifica tramano inganni.	20 They speak no words of peace, but against the quiet in the land they fashion deceitful speech.
21 Spalancano contro di me la loro bocca;dicono: «Bene! I nostri occhi hanno visto!».	21 They open wide their mouths against me. They say, "Aha! Good! Our eyes relish the sight!"
22 Signore, tu hai visto, non tacere;Signore, da me non stare lontano.	22 You see this, LORD; do not be silent; Lord, do not withdraw from me.
23 Déstati, svégliati per il mio giudizio,per la mia causa, mio Dio e Signore!	23 Awake, be vigilant in my defense, in my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Giudicami secondo la tua giustizia, Signore, mio Dio,perché di me non debbano gioire.	24 Defend me because you are just, LORD; my God, do not let them gloat over me.
25 Non pensino in cuor loro: «È ciò che volevamo!».Non dicano: «Lo abbiamo divorato!».	25 Do not let them say in their hearts, "Aha! Just what we wanted!" Do not let them say, "We have devoured that one!"
26 Sia svergognato e confuso chi gode della mia rovina,sia coperto di vergogna e disonore chi mi insulta.	26 Put to shame and confound all who relish my misfortune. Clothe with shame and disgrace those who lord it over me.
27 Esulti e gioisca chi ama il mio diritto,dica sempre: «Grande è il Signore,che vuole la pace del suo servo».	27 But let those who favor my just cause shout for joy and be glad. May they ever say, "Exalted be the LORD who delights in the peace of his loyal servant."
28 La mia lingua mediterà la tua giustizia,canterà la tua lode per sempre.	28 Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long.
