1 Lamento che Davide cantò al Signore a causa delle parole di Cus, il Beniaminita.	1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.
2 Signore, mio Dio, in te ho trovato rifugio:salvami da chi mi perseguita e liberami,	2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,
3 perché non mi sbrani come un leone,dilaniandomi senza che alcuno mi liberi.	3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.
4 Signore, mio Dio, se così ho agito,se c’è ingiustizia nelle mie mani,	4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,
5 se ho ripagato il mio amico con il male,se ho spogliato i miei avversari senza motivo,	5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--
6 il nemico mi insegua e mi raggiunga,calpesti a terra la mia vitae getti nella polvere il mio onore.	6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah
7 Sorgi, Signore, nella tua ira,àlzati contro la furia dei miei avversari,svégliati, mio Dio, emetti un giudizio!	7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.
8 L’assemblea dei popoli ti circonda:ritorna dall’alto a dominarla!	8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,
9 Il Signore giudica i popoli.Giudicami, Signore, secondo la mia giustizia,secondo l’innocenza che è in me.	9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.
10 Cessi la cattiveria dei malvagi.Rendi saldo il giusto,tu che scruti mente e cuore, o Dio giusto.	10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.
11 Il mio scudo è in Dio:egli salva i retti di cuore.	11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.
12 Dio è giudice giusto,Dio si sdegna ogni giorno.	12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.
13 Non torna forse ad affilare la spada,a tendere, a puntare il suo arco?	13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,
14 Si prepara strumenti di morte,arroventa le sue frecce.	14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.
15 Ecco, il malvagio concepisce ingiustizia,è gravido di cattiveria, partorisce menzogna.	15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.
16 Egli scava un pozzo profondoe cade nella fossa che ha fatto;	16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.
17 la sua cattiveria ricade sul suo capo,la sua violenza gli piomba sulla testa.	17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.
18 Renderò grazie al Signore per la sua giustiziae canterò il nome di Dio, l’Altissimo.	18 I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.
