Salmi 2

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quare fremuerunt gentes, et populi meditati sunt inania?	1 Why this uproar among the nations, this impotent muttering of the peoples?
2 Astiterunt reges terrae, et principes convenerunt in unum adversus Dominum et adversus christum eius:	2 Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed,
3 “ Dirumpamus vincula eorum et proiciamus a nobis iugum ipsorum! ”.	3 'Now let us break their fetters! Now let us throw off their bonds!'
4 Qui habitat in caelis, irridebit eos, Dominus subsannabit eos.	4 He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them,
5 Tunc loquetur ad eos in ira sua et in furore suo conturbabit eos:	5 then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror.
6 “ Ego autem constitui regem meum super Sion, montem sanctum meum! ”.	6 'I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.'
7 Praedicabo decretum eius. Dominus dixit ad me: “ Filius meus es tu; ego hodie genui te.	7 I wil proclaim the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, 'You are my son, today have I fathered you.
8 Postula a me, et dabo tibi gentes hereditatem tuam et possessionem tuam terminos terrae.	8 Ask of me, and I shal give you the nations as your birthright, the whole wide world as your possession.
9 Reges eos in virga ferrea et tamquam vas figuli confringes eos ”.	9 With an iron sceptre you wil break them, shatter them like so many pots.'
10 Et nunc, reges, intellegite; erudimini, qui iudicatis terram.	10 So now, you kings, come to your senses, you earthly rulers, learn your lesson!
11 Servite Domino in timore et exsultate ei cum tremore.	11 In fear be submissive to Yahweh;
12 Apprehendite disciplinam, ne quando irascatur, et pereatis de via, cum exarserit in brevi ira eius. Beati omnes, qui confidunt in eo.	12 with trembling kiss his feet, lest he be angry and your way come to nothing, for his fury flares up in amoment. How blessed are al who take refuge in him!
