NOVA VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
1 Magistro chori. Ad modum cantici " Mut labben ". Psalmus. David.
1 [For the choirmaster On oboe and harp Psalm Of David] I thank you, Yahweh, with my whole heart, Irecount al your wonders,
2 ALEPH. Confitebor tibi, Domine, in toto corde meo,
narrabo omnia mirabilia tua.
2 I rejoice and delight in you, I sing to your name, Most High.
3 Laetabor et exsultabo in te,
psallam nomini tuo, Altissime.
3 My enemies are in retreat, they stumble and perish at your presence,
4 BETH. Cum convertuntur inimici mei retrorsum,
infirmantur et pereunt a facie tua.
4 for you have given fair judgement in my favour, seated on your throne as upright judge.
5 Quoniam fecisti iudicium meum et causam meam,
sedisti super thronum, qui iudicas iustitiam.
5 You have rebuked the nations, destroyed the wicked, blotted out their name for ever and ever;
6 GHIMEL. Increpasti gentes, perdidisti impium;
nomen eorum delesti in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi.
6 the enemy is wiped out -- mere ruins for ever -- you have annihilated their cities, their memory hasperished. See,
7 Inimici defecerunt, solitudines sempiternae factae sunt;
et civitates destruxisti: periit memoria eorum cum ipsis.
7 Yahweh is enthroned for ever, keeping his throne firm for judgement;
8 HE. Dominus autem in aeternum sedebit,
paravit in iudicium thronum suum;
8 he wil himself judge the world in uprightness, wil give a true verdict on the nations.
9 et ipse iudicabit orbem terrae in iustitia,
iudicabit populos in aequitate.
9 May Yahweh be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble!
10 VAU. Et erit Dominus refugium oppresso,
refugium in opportunitatibus, in tribulatione.
10 Those who revere your name can rely on you, you never desert those who seek you, Yahweh.
11 Et sperent in te, qui noverunt nomen tuum,
quoniam non dereliquisti quaerentes te, Domine.
11 Sing to Yahweh who dwel s in Zion, tel the nations his mighty deeds,
12 ZAIN. Psallite Domino, qui habitat in Sion;
annuntiate inter gentes studia eius.
12 for the avenger of blood does not forget them, he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
13 Quoniam requirens sanguinem recordatus est eorum,
non est oblitus clamorem pauperum.
13 Have pity on me, Yahweh, see my affliction, pull me back from the gates of death,
14 HETH. Miserere mei, Domine;
vide afflictionem meam de inimicis meis,
qui exaltas me de portis mortis,
14 that I may recount al your praises at the gates of the daughter of Zion and rejoice in your salvation.
15 ut annuntiem omnes laudationes tuas in portis filiae Sion,
exsultem in salutari tuo.
15 The nations have fal en into the trap they made, their feet caught in the snare they laid.
16 TETH. Infixae sunt gentes in fovea, quam fecerunt;
in laqueo isto, quem absconderunt,
comprehensus est pes eorum.
16 Yahweh has made himself known, given judgement, he has ensnared the wicked in the work of theirown hands.Muted music Pause
17 Manifestavit se Dominus iudicium faciens;
in operibus manuum suarum comprehensus est peccator.
17 May the wicked turn away to Sheol, al the nations forgetful of God.
18 IOD. Convertentur peccatores in infernum,
omnes gentes, quae obliviscuntur Deum.
18 For the needy is not forgotten for ever, not for ever does the hope of the poor come to nothing.
19 CAPH. Quoniam non in finem oblivio erit pauperis;
exspectatio pauperum non peribit in aeternum.
19 Arise, Yahweh; human strength shal not prevail. The nations shal stand trial before you.
20 Exsurge, Domine, non confortetur homo;
iudicentur gentes in conspectu tuo.
20 Strike them with terror, Yahweh; the nations shall know that they are no more than human!Pause
21 Constitue, Domine, terrorem super eos;
sciant gentes quoniam homines sunt.
