Magistro chori. Psalmus. David. | 1 For the leader. A psalm of David. |
Exaudi, Deus, vocem meam in meditatione mea; a timore inimici custodi animam meam. | 2 O God, hear my anguished voice; from the foes I dread protect my life. |
Protege me a conventu malignantium, a multitudine operantium iniquitatem. | 3 Hide me from the malicious crowd, the mob of evildoers. |
Qui exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas, intenderunt sagittas suas, venefica verba, | 4 They sharpen their tongues like swords, ready their bows for arrows of poison words. |
ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum. Subito sagittabunt eum et non timebunt, | 5 They shoot at the innocent from ambush, shoot without risk, catch them unawares. |
firmaverunt sibi consilium nequam. Disputaverunt, ut absconderent laqueos, dixerunt: “ Quis videbit eos? ”. | 6 They resolve on their wicked plan; they conspire to set snares; they say: "Who will see us?" |
Excogitaverunt iniqua, perfecerunt excogitata consilia. Interiora hominis et cor eius abyssus. | 7 They devise wicked schemes, conceal the schemes they devise; the designs of their hearts are hidden. |
Et sagittavit illos Deus; subito factae sunt plagae eorum, | 8 But God will shoot arrows at them and strike them unawares. |
et infirmavit eos lingua eorum. Caput movebunt omnes, qui videbunt eos, | 9 They will be brought down by their own tongues; all who see them will shake their heads. |
et timebit omnis homo; et annuntiabunt opera Dei et facta eius intellegent. | 10 Then all will fear and proclaim God's deed, pondering what has been done. |
Laetabitur iustus in Domino et sperabit in eo, et gloriabuntur omnes recti corde. | 11 The just will rejoice and take refuge in the LORD; all the upright will glory in their God. |
