1 Maskil. Di Etan, l’Ezraita.	1 [Poem For Ethan the native-born] I shal sing the faithful love of Yahweh for ever, from age to age mylips shall declare your constancy,
2 Canterò in eterno l’amore del Signore,di generazione in generazionefarò conoscere con la mia bocca la tua fedeltà,	2 for you have said: love is built to last for ever, you have fixed your constancy firm in the heavens.
3 perché ho detto: «È un amore edificato per sempre;nel cielo rendi stabile la tua fedeltà».	3 'I have made a covenant with my Chosen One, sworn an oath to my servant David:
4 «Ho stretto un’alleanza con il mio eletto,ho giurato a Davide, mio servo.	4 I have made your dynasty firm for ever, built your throne stable age after age.'Pause
5 Stabilirò per sempre la tua discendenza,di generazione in generazione edificherò il tuo trono».	5 The heavens praise your wonders, Yahweh, your constancy in the gathering of your faithful.
6 I cieli cantano le tue meraviglie, Signore,la tua fedeltà nell’assemblea dei santi.	6 Who in the skies can compare with Yahweh? Who among the sons of god can rival him?
7 Chi sulle nubi è uguale al Signore,chi è simile al Signore tra i figli degli dèi?	7 God, awesome in the assembly of holy ones, great and dreaded among al who surround him,
8 Dio è tremendo nel consiglio dei santi,grande e terribile tra quanti lo circondano.	8 Yahweh, God Sabaoth, who is like you? Mighty Yahweh, your constancy is al round you!
9 Chi è come te, Signore, Dio degli eserciti?Potente Signore, la tua fedeltà ti circonda.	9 You control the pride of the ocean, when its waves ride high you calm them.
10 Tu domini l’orgoglio del mare,tu plachi le sue onde tempestose.	10 You split Rahab in two like a corpse, scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 Tu hai ferito e calpestato Raab,con braccio potente hai disperso i tuoi nemici.	11 Yours are the heavens and yours the earth, the world and al it holds, you founded them;
12 Tuoi sono i cieli, tua è la terra,tu hai fondato il mondo e quanto contiene;	12 you created the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon hail your name with joy.
13 il settentrione e il mezzogiorno tu li hai creati,il Tabor e l’Ermon cantano il tuo nome.	13 Yours is a strong arm, mighty your hand, your right hand raised high;
14 Tu hai un braccio potente,forte è la tua mano, alta la tua destra.	14 Saving Justice and Fair Judgement the foundations of your throne, Faithful Love and Constancymarch before you.
15 Giustizia e diritto sono la base del tuo trono,amore e fedeltà precedono il tuo volto.	15 How blessed the nation that learns to acclaim you! They will live, Yahweh, in the light of yourpresence.
16 Beato il popolo che ti sa acclamare:camminerà, Signore, alla luce del tuo volto;	16 In your name they rejoice al day long, by your saving justice they are raised up.
17 esulta tutto il giorno nel tuo nome,si esalta nella tua giustizia.	17 You are the flower of their strength, by your favour our strength is triumphant;
18 Perché tu sei lo splendore della sua forzae con il tuo favore innalzi la nostra fronte.	18 for to Yahweh belongs our shield, to the Holy One of Israel our king.
19 Perché del Signore è il nostro scudo,il nostro re, del Santo d’Israele.	19 Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful you said: 'I have given strength to a warrior, I have raisedup a man chosen from my people.
20 Un tempo parlasti in visione ai tuoi fedeli, dicendo:«Ho portato aiuto a un prode,ho esaltato un eletto tra il mio popolo.	20 'I have found David my servant, and anointed him with my holy oil.
21 Ho trovato Davide, mio servo,con il mio santo olio l’ho consacrato;	21 My hand wil always be with him, my arm wil make him strong.
22 la mia mano è il suo sostegno,il mio braccio è la sua forza.	22 'No enemy wil be able to outwit him, no wicked man overcome him;
23 Su di lui non trionferà il nemiconé l’opprimerà l’uomo perverso.	23 I shal crush his enemies before him, strike his opponents dead.
24 Annienterò davanti a lui i suoi nemicie colpirò quelli che lo odiano.	24 'My constancy and faithful love will be with him, in my name his strength wil be triumphant.
25 La mia fedeltà e il mio amore saranno con luie nel mio nome s’innalzerà la sua fronte.	25 I shal establish his power over the sea, his dominion over the rivers.
26 Farò estendere sul mare la sua manoe sui fiumi la sua destra.	26 'He wil cry to me, "You are my father, my God, the rock of my salvation!"
27 Egli mi invocherà: “Tu sei mio padre,mio Dio e roccia della mia salvezza”.	27 So I shal make him my first-born, the highest of earthly kings.
28 Io farò di lui il mio primogenito,il più alto fra i re della terra.	28 'I shal maintain my faithful love for him always, my covenant with him wil stay firm.
29 Gli conserverò sempre il mio amore,la mia alleanza gli sarà fedele.	29 I have established his dynasty for ever, his throne to be as lasting as the heavens.
30 Stabilirò per sempre la sua discendenza,il suo trono come i giorni del cielo.	30 'Should his descendants desert my law, and not keep to my rulings,
31 Se i suoi figli abbandoneranno la mia leggee non seguiranno i miei decreti,	31 should they violate my statutes, and not observe my commandments,
32 se violeranno i miei statutie non osserveranno i miei comandi,	32 'then I shal punish their offences with the rod, their guilt with the whip,
33 punirò con la verga la loro ribellionee con flagelli la loro colpa.	33 but I shal never withdraw from him my faithful love, I shal not belie my constancy.
34 Ma non annullerò il mio amoree alla mia fedeltà non verrò mai meno.	34 'I shal not violate my covenant, I shal not withdraw the word once spoken.
35 Non profanerò la mia alleanza,non muterò la mia promessa.	35 I have sworn by my holiness, once and for al , never will I break faith with David.
36 Sulla mia santità ho giurato una volta per sempre:certo non mentirò a Davide.	36 'His dynasty shal endure for ever, his throne like the sun before me,
37 In eterno durerà la sua discendenza,il suo trono davanti a me quanto il sole,	37 as the moon is established for ever, a faithful witness in the skies.'Pause
38 sempre saldo come la luna,testimone fedele nel cielo».	38 Yet you yourself -- you have spurned and rejected, and have vented your wrath on your anointed,
39 Ma tu lo hai respinto e disonorato,ti sei adirato contro il tuo consacrato;	39 you have repudiated the covenant with your servant, dishonoured his crown in the dust.
40 hai infranto l’alleanza con il tuo servo,hai profanato nel fango la sua corona.	40 You have pierced al his defences, and laid his strongholds in ruins,
41 Hai aperto brecce in tutte le sue murae ridotto in rovine le sue fortezze;	41 everyone passing by plunders him, he has become the butt of his neighbours.
42 tutti i passanti lo hanno depredato,è divenuto lo scherno dei suoi vicini.	42 You have raised high the right hand of his opponents, have made al his enemies happy;
43 Hai esaltato la destra dei suoi rivali,hai fatto esultare tutti i suoi nemici.	43 you have snapped off his sword on a rock, and failed to support him in battle.
44 Hai smussato il filo della sua spadae non l’hai sostenuto nella battaglia.	44 You have stripped him of his splendid sceptre, and toppled his throne to the ground.
45 Hai posto fine al suo splendore,hai rovesciato a terra il suo trono.	45 You have aged him before his time, enveloped him in shame.Pause
46 Hai abbreviato i giorni della sua giovinezzae lo hai coperto di vergogna.	46 How long, Yahweh, will you remain hidden? For ever? Is your anger to go on smouldering like a fire?
47 Fino a quando, Signore, ti terrai nascosto: per sempre?Arderà come fuoco la tua collera?	47 Remember me; how long have I left? For what pointless end did you create al the children of Adam?
48 Ricorda quanto è breve la mia vita:invano forse hai creato ogni uomo?	48 Who can live and never see death? Who can save himself from the clutches of Sheol?Pause
49 Chi è l’uomo che vive e non vede la morte?Chi potrà sfuggire alla mano degli inferi?	49 Lord, what of those pledges of your faithful love? You made an oath to David by your constancy.
50 Dov’è, Signore, il tuo amore di un tempo,che per la tua fedeltà hai giurato a Davide?	50 Do not forget the insults to your servant; I take to heart the taunts of the nations,
51 Ricorda, Signore, l’oltraggio fatto ai tuoi servi:porto nel cuore le ingiurie di molti popoli,	51 which your enemies have level ed, Yahweh, have level ed at the footsteps of your anointed!
52 con le quali, Signore, i tuoi nemici insultano,insultano i passi del tuo consacrato.	52 Blessed be Yahweh for ever. Amen, Amen.
53 Benedetto il Signore in eterno.Amen, amen.
