1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.	1 Unto the end. The understanding of David.
2 Quando il profeta Natan andò da lui, che era andato con Betsabea.	2 When Doeg the Edomite came and reported to Saul, David went to the house of Ahimelech.
3 Pietà di me, o Dio, nel tuo amore;nella tua grande misericordiacancella la mia iniquità.	3 Why do you glory in malice, you who are powerful in iniquity?
4 Lavami tutto dalla mia colpa,dal mio peccato rendimi puro.	4 All day long your tongue thinks up injustice. Like a sharp razor, you have wrought deceit.
5 Sì, le mie iniquità io le riconosco,il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.	5 You have loved malice above goodness, and iniquity more than speaking righteousness.
6 Contro di te, contro te solo ho peccato,quello che è male ai tuoi occhi, io l’ho fatto:così sei giusto nella tua sentenza,sei retto nel tuo giudizio.	6 You have loved all precipitous words, you deceitful tongue.
7 Ecco, nella colpa io sono nato,nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.	7 Because of this, God will destroy you in the end. He will pull you up, and he will remove you from your tabernacle and your root from the land of the living.
8 Ma tu gradisci la sincerità nel mio intimo,nel segreto del cuore mi insegni la sapienza.	8 The just will see and be afraid, and they will laugh over him, and say:
9 Aspergimi con rami d’issòpo e sarò puro;lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.	9 “Behold the man who did not set God as his helper. But he hoped in the multitude of his riches, and so he prevailed in his emptiness.”
10 Fammi sentire gioia e letizia:esulteranno le ossa che hai spezzato.	10 But I, like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God unto eternity, and forever and ever.
11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati,cancella tutte le mie colpe.	11 I will confess to you forever, because you have accomplished it. And I will wait on your name, for it is good in the sight of your saints.
12 Crea in me, o Dio, un cuore puro,rinnova in me uno spirito saldo.
13 Non scacciarmi dalla tua presenzae non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.
14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvezza,sostienimi con uno spirito generoso.
15 Insegnerò ai ribelli le tue viee i peccatori a te ritorneranno.
16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio mia salvezza:la mia lingua esalterà la tua giustizia.
17 Signore, apri le mie labbrae la mia bocca proclami la tua lode.
18 Tu non gradisci il sacrificio;se offro olocausti, tu non li accetti.
19 Uno spirito contrito è sacrificio a Dio;un cuore contrito e affranto tu, o Dio, non disprezzi.
20 Nella tua bontà fa’ grazia a Sion,ricostruisci le mura di Gerusalemme.
21 Allora gradirai i sacrifici legittimi,l’olocausto e l’intera oblazione;allora immoleranno vittime sopra il tuo altare.
