1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.	1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
2 Beato l’uomo che ha cura del debole:nel giorno della sventura il Signore lo libera.	2 Happy those concerned for the lowly and poor; when misfortune strikes, the LORD delivers them.
3 Il Signore veglierà su di lui,lo farà vivere beato sulla terra,non lo abbandonerà in preda ai nemici.	3 The LORD keeps and preserves them, makes them happy in the land, and does not betray them to their enemies.
4 Il Signore lo sosterrà sul letto del dolore;tu lo assisti quando giace ammalato.	4 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed, allays the malady when they are ill.
5 Io ho detto: «Pietà di me, Signore,guariscimi: contro di te ho peccato».	5 Once I prayed, "LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, I have sinned against you.
6 I miei nemici mi augurano il male:«Quando morirà e perirà il suo nome?».	6 My enemies say the worst of me: 'When will that one die and be forgotten?'
7 Chi viene a visitarmi dice il falso,il suo cuore cova cattiveriae, uscito fuori, sparla.	7 When people come to visit me, they speak without sincerity. Their hearts store up malice; they leave and spread their vicious lies.
8 Tutti insieme, quelli che mi odianocontro di me tramano malefìci,hanno per me pensieri maligni:	8 My foes all whisper against me; they imagine the worst about me:
9 «Lo ha colpito una malattia infernale;dal letto dove è steso non potrà più rialzarsi».	9 I have a deadly disease, they say; I will never rise from my sickbed.
10 Anche l’amico in cui confidavo,che con me divideva il pane,contro di me alza il suo piede.	10 Even the friend who had my trust, who shared my table, has scorned me.
11 Ma tu, Signore, abbi pietà, rialzami,che io li possa ripagare.	11 But you, LORD, have mercy and raise me up that I may repay them as they deserve."
12 Da questo saprò che tu mi vuoi bene:se non trionfa su di me il mio nemico.	12 By this I know you are pleased with me, that my enemy no longer jeers at me.
13 Per la mia integrità tu mi sostienie mi fai stare alla tua presenza per sempre.	13 For my integrity you have supported me and let me stand in your presence forever.
14 Sia benedetto il Signore, Dio d’Israele,da sempre e per sempre. Amen, amen.	14 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from all eternity and forever. Amen. Amen.
