2 Per te il silenzio è lode, o Dio, in Sion,a te si sciolgono i voti.	2 for you answer prayer. All humanity must come to you
3 A te, che ascolti la preghiera,viene ogni mortale.	3 with its sinful deeds. Our faults overwhelm us, but you blot them out.
4 Pesano su di noi le nostre colpe,ma tu perdoni i nostri delitti.	4 How blessed those whom you choose and invite to dwell in your courts. We shal be filled with thegood things of your house, of your holy temple.
5 Beato chi hai scelto perché ti stia vicino:abiterà nei tuoi atri.Ci sazieremo dei beni della tua casa,delle cose sacre del tuo tempio.	5 You respond to us with the marvels of your saving justice, God our Saviour, hope of the whole wideworld, even the distant islands.
6 Con i prodigi della tua giustizia,tu ci rispondi, o Dio, nostra salvezza,fiducia degli estremi confini della terrae dei mari più lontani.	6 By your strength you hold the mountains steady, being clothed in power,
7 Tu rendi saldi i monti con la tua forza,cinto di potenza.	7 you calm the turmoil of the seas, the turmoil of their waves. The nations are in uproar, in panic thosewho live at the ends of the earth;
8 Tu plachi il fragore del mare,il fragore dei suoi flutti,il tumulto dei popoli.	8 your miracles bring shouts of joy to the gateways of morning and evening.
9 Gli abitanti degli estremi confinisono presi da timore davanti ai tuoi segni:tu fai gridare di gioiale soglie dell’oriente e dell’occidente.	9 You visit the earth and make it fruitful, you fill it with riches; the river of God brims over with water, youprovide the grain. To that end
10 Tu visiti la terra e la disseti,la ricolmi di ricchezze.Il fiume di Dio è gonfio di acque;tu prepari il frumento per gli uomini.Così prepari la terra:	10 you water its furrows abundantly, level its ridges, soften it with showers and bless its shoots.
11 ne irrighi i solchi, ne spiani le zolle,la bagni con le piogge e benedici i suoi germogli.	11 You crown the year with your generosity, richness seeps from your tracks,
12 Coroni l’anno con i tuoi benefici,i tuoi solchi stillano abbondanza.	12 the pastures of the desert grow moist, the hillsides are wrapped in joy,
13 Stillano i pascoli del desertoe le colline si cingono di esultanza.	13 the meadows are covered with flocks, the val eys clothed with wheat; they shout and sing for joy.
14 I prati si coprono di greggi,le valli si ammantano di messi:gridano e cantano di gioia!
