2 Quando uscì contro Aram Naharàim e contro Aram Soba e quando Ioab, nel ritorno, sconfisse gli Edomiti nella valle del Sale: dodicimila uomini.	2 when he fought against Aram-Naharaim and Aram-Zobah; and Joab, coming back, killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
3 Dio, tu ci hai respinti, ci hai messi in rotta,ti sei sdegnato: ritorna a noi.	3 O God, you rejected us, broke our defenses; you were angry but now revive us.
4 Hai fatto tremare la terra, l’hai squarciata:risana le sue crepe, perché essa vacilla.	4 You rocked the earth, split it open; repair the cracks for it totters.
5 Hai messo a dura prova il tuo popolo,ci hai fatto bere vino che stordisce.	5 You made your people go through hardship, made us stagger from the wine you gave us.
6 Hai dato un segnale a quelli che ti temono,perché fuggano lontano dagli archi.	6 Raise up a flag for those who revere you, a refuge for them out of bow shot. Selah
7 Perché siano liberati i tuoi amici,salvaci con la tua destra e rispondici!	7 Help with your right hand and answer us that your loved ones may escape.
8 Dio ha parlato nel suo santuario:«Esulto e divido Sichem,spartisco la valle di Succot.	8 In the sanctuary God promised: "I will exult, will apportion Shechem; the valley of Succoth I will measure out.
9 Mio è Gàlaad, mio è Manasse,Èfraim è l’elmo del mio capo,Giuda lo scettro del mio comando.	9 Gilead is mine, mine is Manasseh; Ephraim is the helmet for my head, Judah, my own scepter.
10 Moab è il catino per lavarmi,su Edom getterò i miei sandali,il mio grido di vittoria sulla Filistea!».	10 Moab is my washbowl; upon Edom I cast my sandal. I will triumph over Philistia."
11 Chi mi condurrà alla città fortificata,chi potrà guidarmi fino al paese di Edom,	11 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me into Edom?
12 se non tu, o Dio, che ci hai respintie più non esci, o Dio, con le nostre schiere?	12 Was it not you who rejected us, God? Do you no longer march with our armies?
13 Nell’oppressione vieni in nostro aiuto,perché vana è la salvezza dell’uomo.	13 Give us aid against the foe; worthless is human help.
14 Con Dio noi faremo prodezze,egli calpesterà i nostri nemici.	14 We will triumph with the help of God, who will trample down our foes.
