Precatio. David. Exaudi, Domine, iustitiam meam, intende deprecationem meam. Auribus percipe orationem meam, non in labiis dolosis. | 1 A prayer of David. Hear, LORD, my plea for justice; pay heed to my cry; Listen to my prayer spoken without guile. |
De vultu tuo iudicium meum prodeat; oculi tui videant aequitates. | 2 From you let my vindication come; your eyes see what is right. |
Proba cor meum et visita nocte; igne me examina, et non invenies in me iniquitatem. | 3 You have tested my heart, searched it in the night. You have tried me by fire, but find no malice in me. My mouth has not transgressed |
Non transgreditur os meum ad opera hominum, propter verba labiorum tuorum custodivi me a viis violenti. | 4 as humans often do. As your lips have instructed me, I have kept the way of the law. |
Retine gressus meos in semitis tuis, ut non moveantur vestigia mea. | 5 My steps have kept to your paths; my feet have not faltered. |
Ego ad te clamavi, quoniam exaudis me, Deus; inclina aurem tuam mihi et exaudi verba mea. | 6 I call upon you; answer me, O God. Turn your ear to me; hear my prayer. |
Mirifica misericordias tuas, qui salvos facis ab insurgentibus sperantes in dextera tua. | 7 Show your wonderful love, you who deliver with your right arm those who seek refuge from their foes. |
Custodi me ut pupillam oculi, sub umbra alarum tuarum protege me | 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings |
a facie impiorum, qui me afflixerunt. Inimici mei in furore circumdederunt me, | 9 from the violence of the wicked. |
adipem suum concluserunt; os eorum locutum est superbiam. | 10 My ravenous enemies press upon me; they close their hearts, they fill their mouths with proud roaring. |
Incedentes nunc circumdederunt me, oculos suos statuerunt prosternere in terram. | 11 Their steps even now encircle me; they watch closely, keeping low to the ground, |
Aspectus eorum quasi leonis parati ad praedam et sicut catuli leonis recubantis in abditis. | 12 Like lions eager for prey, like young lions lurking in ambush. |
Exsurge, Domine, praeveni eum, supplanta eum; eripe animam meam ab impio framea tua, | 13 Rise, O LORD, confront and cast them down; rescue me so from the wicked. |
a mortuis manu tua, Domine, a mortuis, quorum defecit portio vitae. De reconditis tuis adimpleas ventrem eorum, saturentur filii et dimittant reliquias parvulis suis. | 14 Slay them with your sword; with your hand, LORD, slay them; snatch them from the world in their prime. Their bellies are being filled with your friends; their children are satisfied too, for they share what is left with their young. |
Ego autem in iustitia videbo faciem tuam; satiabor, cum evigilavero, conspectu tuo. | 15 I am just--let me see your face; when I awake, let me be filled with your presence. |
