2 Esultate in Dio, nostra forza,acclamate il Dio di Giacobbe!	2 Strike up the music, beat the tambourine, play the melodious harp and the lyre;
3 Intonate il canto e suonate il tamburello,la cetra melodiosa con l’arpa.	3 blow the trumpet for the new month, for the ful moon, for our feast day!
4 Suonate il corno nel novilunio,nel plenilunio, nostro giorno di festa.	4 For Israel has this statute, a decision of the God of Jacob,
5 Questo è un decreto per Israele,un giudizio del Dio di Giacobbe,	5 a decree he imposed on Joseph, when he went to war against Egypt. I heard a voice unknown to me,
6 una testimonianza data a Giuseppe,quando usciva dal paese d’Egitto.Un linguaggio mai inteso io sento:	6 'I freed his shoulder from the burden, his hands were able to lay aside the labourer's basket.

8 Hai gridato a me nell’angosciae io ti ho liberato;nascosto nei tuoni ti ho dato risposta,ti ho messo alla prova alle acque di Merìba.	8 Listen, my people, while I give you warning; Israel, if only you would listen to me!
9 Ascolta, popolo mio:contro di te voglio testimoniare.Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!	9 'You shal have no strange gods, shall worship no alien god.
10 Non ci sia in mezzo a te un dio estraneoe non prostrarti a un dio straniero.	10 I, Yahweh, am your God, who brought you here from Egypt, you have only to open your mouth forme to fil it.
11 Sono io il Signore, tuo Dio,che ti ha fatto salire dal paese d’Egitto:apri la tua bocca, la voglio riempire.	11 'My people would not listen to me, Israel would have none of me.
12 Ma il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce,Israele non mi ha obbedito:	12 So I left them to their stubborn selves, to fol ow their own devices.
13 l’ho abbandonato alla durezza del suo cuore.Seguano pure i loro progetti!	13 'If only my people would listen to me, if only Israel would walk in my ways,
14 Se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse!Se Israele camminasse per le mie vie!	14 at one stroke I would subdue their enemies, turn my hand against their opponents.
15 Subito piegherei i suoi nemicie contro i suoi avversari volgerei la mia mano;	15 'Those who hate Yahweh would woo his favour, though their doom was sealed for ever,
16 quelli che odiano il Signore gli sarebbero sottomessie la loro sorte sarebbe segnata per sempre.	16 while I would feed him on pure wheat, would give you your fil of honey from the rock.'
17 Lo nutrirei con fiore di frumento,lo sazierei con miele dalla roccia».
