1 Preghiera. Di Davide.Ascolta, Signore, la mia giusta causa,sii attento al mio grido.Porgi l’orecchio alla mia preghiera:sulle mie labbra non c’è inganno.	1 [Prayer Of David] Listen, Yahweh, to an upright cause, pay attention to my cry, lend an ear to myprayer, my lips free from deceit.
2 Dal tuo volto venga per me il giudizio,i tuoi occhi vedano la giustizia.	2 From your presence wil issue my vindication, your eyes fixed on what is right.
3 Saggia il mio cuore, scrutalo nella notte,provami al fuoco: non troverai malizia.La mia bocca non si è resa colpevole,	3 You probe my heart, examine me at night, you test me by fire and find no evil. I have not sinned with my mouth
4 secondo l’agire degli uomini;seguendo la parola delle tue labbra,ho evitato i sentieri del violento.	4 as most people do. I have treasured the word from your lips,
5 Tieni saldi i miei passi sulle tue viee i miei piedi non vacilleranno.	5 my steps never stray from the paths you lay down, from your tracks; so my feet never stumble.
6 Io t’invoco poiché tu mi rispondi, o Dio;tendi a me l’orecchio, ascolta le mie parole,	6 I call upon you, God, for you answer me; turn your ear to me, hear what I say.
7 mostrami i prodigi della tua misericordia,tu che salvi dai nemici chi si affida alla tua destra.	7 Show the evidence of your faithful love, saviour of those who hope in your strength against attack.
8 Custodiscimi come pupilla degli occhi,all’ombra delle tue ali nascondimi,	8 Guard me as the pupil of an eye, shelter me in the shadow of your wings
9 di fronte ai malvagi che mi opprimono,ai nemici mortali che mi accerchiano.	9 from the presence of the wicked who would maltreat me; deadly enemies are closing in on me.
10 Il loro animo è insensibile,le loro bocche parlano con arroganza.	10 Engrossed in themselves they are mouthing arrogant words.
11 Eccoli: avanzano, mi circondano,puntano gli occhi per gettarmi a terra,	11 They are advancing against me, now they are closing in, watching for the chance to hurl me to theground,
12 simili a un leone che brama la preda,a un leoncello che si apposta in agguato.	12 like a lion preparing to pounce, like a young lion crouching in ambush.
13 Àlzati, Signore, affrontalo, abbattilo;con la tua spada liberami dal malvagio,	13 Arise, Yahweh, confront him and bring him down, with your sword save my life from the wicked,
14 con la tua mano, Signore, dai mortali,dai mortali del mondo, la cui sorte è in questa vita.Sazia pure dei tuoi beni il loro ventre,se ne sazino anche i figli e ne avanzi per i loro bambini.	14 Yahweh, from mortals, by your hand, from mortals whose part in life is in this world. You fill theirbellies from your store, their children wil have all they desire, and leave their surplus to their children.
15 Ma io nella giustizia contemplerò il tuo volto,al risveglio mi sazierò della tua immagine.	15 But I in my uprightness wil see your face, and when I awake I shal be fil ed with the vision of you.
