1 Canto delle salite.Quanto mi hanno perseguitato fin dalla giovinezza– lo dica Israele –,	1 A Canticle in steps. From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord.
2 quanto mi hanno perseguitato fin dalla giovinezza,ma su di me non hanno prevalso!	2 O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
3 Sul mio dorso hanno arato gli aratori,hanno scavato lunghi solchi.	3 If you, O Lord, were to heed iniquities, who, O Lord, could persevere?
4 Il Signore è giusto:ha spezzato le funi dei malvagi.	4 For with you, there is forgiveness, and because of your law, I persevered with you, Lord. My soul has persevered in his word.
5 Si vergognino e volgano le spalletutti quelli che odiano Sion.	5 My soul has hoped in the Lord.
6 Siano come l’erba dei tetti:prima che sia strappata, è già secca;	6 From the morning watch, even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
7 non riempie la mano al mietitorené il grembo a chi raccoglie covoni.	7 For with the Lord there is mercy, and with him there is bountiful redemption.
8 I passanti non possono dire:«La benedizione del Signore sia su di voi,	8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
9 vi benediciamo nel nome del Signore».
