2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi,quando eravamo assaliti,	2 in Jerusalem. Mountains surround it. And the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forward and even forever.
3 allora ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi,quando divampò contro di noi la loro collera.	3 For the Lord will not allow the rod of sinners to remain over the lot of the just, so that the just may not extend their hands toward iniquity.
4 Allora le acque ci avrebbero travolti,un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi;	4 Do good, O Lord, to the good and to the upright of heart.
5 allora ci avrebbero sommersiacque impetuose.	5 But those who turn away into obligation, the Lord will lead away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
6 Sia benedetto il Signore,che non ci ha consegnati in preda ai loro denti.
7 Siamo stati liberati come un passerodal laccio dei cacciatori:il laccio si è spezzatoe noi siamo scampati.
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore:egli ha fatto cielo e terra.
