Isaia 64

1 Se tu squarciassi i cieli, e scendessi! al tuo cospetto si liquefarebbero i monti.	1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
2 Si consumerebbero come in una fornace di fuoco, le acque prenderebbero l'ardore del fuoco, affinchè si rendesse manifesto il tuo nome a' tuoi nemici; e dinanzi a te si turbassero le nazioni.	2 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
3 Allorché avrai fatto queste cose amirabili, noi non le sosterremo: tu se' disceso, e dinanzi a te i monti si non disciolti.	3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
4 Pe' secoli indietro nissuno seppe, né orecchia udì, né occhio vide, o Dio, eccetto te, quel, che tu hai preparato per coloro, che ti aspettano.	4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
5 Tu vai incontro a quelli, che si rallegrano in te, e praticano la giustizia: nelle tue vie si ricorderanno di te secco, che tu se' irato, e noi abbiam peccato: in peccato fummo noi sempre, e saremo salvati.	5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
6 Siam diventati tutti noi come un immondo, e quasi sucido panno sono tutte le nostre giustificazioni: siamo caduti tutti come foglie, e le nostre iniquità sono state come il vento, che ci ha dispersi.	6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
7 Non è chi invochi il tuo nome, chi si alzi, e ti rattenga: tu hai nascosa a noi la tua faccia, e ci hai schiacciati sotto la nostra iniquità.	7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
8 E adesso, o Signore, tu se' il Padre nostro, e noi fango; e facitore nostro se' tu, e tutti noi opere delle tue mani.	8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
9 Non adirarti troppo, o Signore, e non voler più ricordarti della nostra iniquità; ecco, rimiraci, tuo popolo (siam) tutti noi.	9 Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
10 La città del tuo santuario è diven tata deserta, Sionne è diventata deserta, Gerusalemme è desolata.	10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
11 La casa della nostra santificazione,e della nostra gloria, dove le tue lodi cantarono i padri nostri, è stata consumata dal fuoco, e tutte le nostre grandezze son cangiate in rovine.	11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
12 A tali cose ti ratterai tu forse, o Signore, e starai in silenzio, e ci affliggerai for misura?	12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
