Isaia 1

1 Visione d'Isaia figliuolo di Amos, la quale egli vide intorno alle cose di Giuda, e di Gerusalemme a' tempi di Ozia, di Joathan, di Achaz, e di Ezechia regi di Giuda.	1 The vision of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Joatham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Udite, o cieli, e tu o terra porgi le orecchie. Il Signore ha parlato: Ho nudriti, e esaltati de' figli: ed eglino mi han disprezzato.	2 Listen, O heavens, and pay attention, O earth, for the Lord has spoken. I have nurtured and raised children, but they have spurned me.
3 Il bue distingue il suo padrone, e l'asino la greppia del suo signore: ma Israele non riconobbe, e il popolo mio non intende.	3 An ox knows his owner, and a donkey knows the manger of his lord, but Israel has not known me, and my people have not understood.
4 Guai alla nazion peccatrice, al popolo aggravato d'iniquità, alla stirpe malvagia, ai figli scellerati: hanno abbandonato il Signore; hanno bestemmiato il santo d'Israele, si non separati, han voltate le spalle.	4 Woe to a sinful nation, a people burdened by iniquity, a wicked offspring, accursed children. They have abandoned the Lord. They have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel. They been taken away backwards.
5 Perchè vi percuoterò io di più, se aggiungete prevaricazioni? Tutto il capo è malato, e tutto il cuore è afflitto;	5 For what reason shall I continue to strike you, as you increase transgressions? The entire head is feeble, and the entire heart is grieving.
6 Dalla pianta del piede fino alla sommità della testa non è in lui sanità: ma ferite, e lividure, e piaga marciosa, che non è stata fasciata, né medicata, né disacerbata col balsamo.	6 From the sole of the foot, even to the top of the head, there is no soundness within. Wounds and bruises and swelling sores: these are not bandaged, nor treated with medicine, nor soothed with oil.
7 Deserta la vostra terra, incendiate le vostre cittadi: le possessioni vostre sugli occhi vostri son divorate dagli stranieri, e devastate come devasta il nimico.	7 Your land is desolate. Your cities have been set ablaze. Foreigners devour your countryside in your sight, and it will become desolate, as if devastated by enemies.
8 E rimarrà la figlia di Sion come una capanna in una vigna, e come un tugurio in un cocomeraio, e come città espugnata per forza.	8 And the daughter of Zion will be left behind, like an arbor in a vineyard, and like a shelter in a cucumber field, and like a city being laid to waste.
9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non avesse lasciato di noi semenza, saremmo diventati come Sodoma, e simili saremmo stati a Gomorra.	9 If the Lord of hosts had not bequeathed us offspring, we would have been like Sodom, and we would have been comparable to Gomorrah.
10 Udite la parola del Signore voi principi di Sodoma, porgi le orecchie alla legge del nostro Dio tu popolo di Gomorra.	10 Listen to the Word of the Lord, you leaders of the people of Sodom. Listen closely to the law of our God, O people of Gomorrah.
11 Che ho da far io della moltitudine delle vostre vittime, dice il Signore? Io ne son pieno. Io non amo gli olocausti degli arieti, e il grasso de' pingui bovi, e il sangue de' vitelli, e degli agnelli, e de' capri.	11 The multitude of your sacrifices, what is that to me, says the Lord? I am full. I do not desire holocausts of rams, nor the fat of fatlings, nor the blood of calves and of lambs and of he-goats.
12 Quando voi vi presentate al cospetto mio, chi ha domandate tal cose dalle vostre mani per farvi spasseggiare pe' miei cortili?	12 When you approach before my sight, who is it that requires these things from your hands, so that you would walk in my courts?
13 Non offerite più sagrifizio inutilmente: ho in abbominazione l'incenso. Non posso patire il Novilunio, e il sabato, e le altre feste. Sono iniquità le vostre adunanze.	13 You should no longer offer sacrifice vain. Incense is an abomination to me. The new moons and the Sabbaths and the other feast days, I will not receive. Your gatherings are iniquitous.
14 Le vostre calende, e le vostre solennità sono odiose all'anima mia: mi son diventate moleste, sono stanco di sopportarle.	14 My soul hates your days of proclamation and your solemnities. They have become bothersome to me. I labor to endure them.
15 E allorché stenderete le vostre mani, rivolgerò gli occhi da voi; e allorché moltiplicherete le preghiere, non darò retta; imperocché le mani vostre son piene di sangue.	15 And so, when you extend your hands, I will avert my eyes from you. And when you multiply your prayers, I will not heed you. For your hands are full of blood.
16 Lavatevi, mondatevi, togliete da gli occhi miei la malvagità de' vostri pensieri, ponete fine al mal fare,	16 Wash, become clean, take away the evil of your intentions from my eyes. Cease to act perversely.
17 Imparate a fare del bene; cercate quello, che è giusto, soccorrete l'oppresso, proteggete il pupillo, difendete la vedova.	17 Learn to do good. Seek judgment, support the oppressed, judge for the orphan, defend the widow.
18 E venite, e doletevi di me, dice il Signore: se saranno i peccati vostri come cocciniglia, saran fatti bianchi come la neve; e se saran rossi come il baco della cocciniglia, saran fatti del colore di bianca lana.	18 And then approach and accuse me, says the Lord. Then, if your sins are like scarlet, they shall be made white like snow; and if they are red like vermillion, they shall become white like wool.
19 Se vorrete, e mi ascolterete, sarete nudriti de' frutti della terra.	19 If you are willing, and you listen to me, then you will eat the good things of the land.
20 Che se non vorrete, e provocherete il mio sdegno, la spada vi consumerà; imperocché la bocca del Signore ha parlato cosi:	20 But if you are not willing, and you provoke me to anger, then the sword will devour you. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
21 Come mai la città fedele piena di equità è diventata una adultera? Ella fu già sede di giustizia, ora poi di omicidi.	21 How has the faithful city, full of judgment, become a harlot? Justice lived in her, but now murderers.
22 Il tuo argento si è cangiato in iscoria: il tuo vino è stato mescolato coll'acqua.	22 Your silver has turned into dross. Your wine has been mixed with water.
23 I tuoi magnati infedeli fanno a mezzo co' ladri; tutti quanti amano i regali, van dietro al guadagno: non rendon ragione al pupillo, e la causa della vedova non trova accesso presso di loro.	23 Your leaders are unfaithful, the associates of thieves. They all love gifts; they pursue rewards. They do not judge for orphans, and the widow’s case is not brought before them.
24 Per questo dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti il (Dio) forte d'Israele: Ahi; che io prenderò satisfazione de' miei avversarj, e farò vendetta de' miei nemici.	24 Because of this, the Lord God of hosts, the Strength of Israel, says: Ah! I will be consoled over my enemies, and I will be vindicated from my adversaries.
25 E stenderò sopra di te la mia mano, e purificherò la tua alchimia, e toglierò da te il tuo stagno.	25 And I will turn my hand to you. And I will temper your dross unto purity, and I will take away all your tin.
26 E renderò i tuoi giudici quali eran prima, e i tuoi consiglieri come in antico, dopo di ciò sarai chiamata città del giusto, città fedele.	26 And I will restore your judges, so that they will be as before, and your counselors as in times long past. After this, you shall be called the City of the Just, the Faithful City.
27 Sionne sarà redenta in giudizio, e rimessa in libertà per giustizia:	27 Zion will be redeemed in judgment, and they will lead her back to justice.
28 Ma (Dio) distruggerà insieme gli scellerati, e i peccatori, e coloro, che hanno abbandonato il Signore saranno consunti.	28 And he shall crush the accursed and sinners together. And those who have abandoned the Lord will be consumed.
29 Imperocché saranno la lor confusione gl'idoli, a' quali sagrificarono, e vi vergognerete degli orti amati da voi,	29 For they shall be confounded because of the idols, to which they have sacrificed. And you shall be ashamed over the gardens that you chose,
30 Allorché sarete qual quercia cadute le foglie, e come orto senz'acqua.	30 when you were like an oak with falling leaves, and like a garden without water.
31 E la vostra fortezza sarà quasi stoppa, che va in faville, e le opere vostre quasi scintilla; e l'una, e l'altre aiuteranno nel fuoco, cui nissuno estinguerà.	31 And your strength will be like the embers from stubble, and your work will be like a spark, and both will burn together, and there will be no one to extinguish it.
