Isaia 8

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E IL Signore dissemi: Prenditi un libro grande, e in esso scrivi a chiare note: Affrettati a torre le spoglie: fa presto a predare.	1 Yahweh said to me, 'Take a large tablet and on it with an ordinary stylus write, "Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz".
2 E mi presi testimoni fedeli, Uria sacerdote, e Zacharia figliuolo di Barachia:	2 And take reliable witnesses, the priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.'
3 E mi accostai alla profetessa, ed ella concepì, e partorì un figliuolo. E il Signore mi disse: Pongli questo nome: Affrettati a tor le spoglie, fa presto a predare.	3 I then had intercourse with the prophetess, who then conceived and gave birth to a son. Yahweh said tome, 'Cal him Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz,
4 Perocché primachè sappia il bambino chiamar per nome suo padre, e sua madre, sarò tolta la possanza di Damasco, e le spoglie di Samaria dal re degli Assiri.	4 for before the child knows how to say "mother" or "father", the wealth of Damascus and the booty of Samaria wil be carried away while the king of Assyria looks on.'
5 E di nuovo il Signore parlommi, dicendo;	5 Yahweh spoke to me again and said,
6 Perchè questo popolo ha avuto in fastidio le acque del Siloe, che scorrono placidamente, ed ha più inclinazione per Rasin, e pel figliuolo di Romelia;	6 'Since this people has rejected the waters of Shiloah which flow smoothly, and has trembled beforeRazon and the son of Remaliah,
7 Per questo ecco, che il Signore condurrà sopra di loro le acque del fiume impetuose, e abbondanti (il re della Siria, e tutta la potenza di lui); e saliranno sopra tutti i loro rivi, e scorreranno sopra tutte le ripe,	7 now, against it, the Lord will bring the mighty, swel ing waters of the River (the king of Assyria and al hisglory); the River wil flood up all its channels and overflow al its banks;
8 E correranno pel paese di Giuda, e passando inonderanno, e arriveranno fino al collo. Ed ei coll'ampiezza delle sue ale empierò l'estensione della terra tua, o Emmanuele.	8 it wil flow into Judah, flooding everything and passing on; it will reach right up to the neck, and the spreading of its wings wil cover the whole extent of your country, Immanuel!
9 Raunatevi, o popoli, e siate vinti: e voi terre rimote ascoltate tutte quante: prendete ardimento, e siate vinti, mettetevi in ordine, e siate vinti:	9 Realise this, peoples, and be afraid, listen, all members of far-off nations! Arm yourselves yet be afraid!Arm yourselves yet be afraid!
10 Fate de' disegni, e saran dissipati: comandate, e non sarà fatto nulla: perchè il Signore (è) con noi.	10 Devise plans as you may: they will come to nothing! Make what pronouncements you like; it wil notcome about! For God is with us!'
11 Imperocché queste cose disse a me il Signore: Quando con mano forte mi corresse, perchè non seguissi gli andamenti di questo popolo, dicendo:	11 For this was how Yahweh spoke to me when his hand seized hold of me and he taught me not to fol owthe path of this people, saying,
12 Non istate a dire, Cospirazione; perocché questo popolo non d'altro parla, che di cospirazione. Ma non temete il suo timore, e non vi sbigottite.	12 'Do not call conspiracy al that this people calls conspiracy; do not dread what they dread, have no fearof that.
13 Il Signor degli eserciti, lui glorificate: egli sia il vostro timore, e il vostro terrore.	13 Yahweh Sabaoth is the one you wil proclaim holy, him you wil dread, him you wil fear.
14 Ed ei sarà per voi santificazione. Ma pietra d'inciampo, e pietra di scandalo per le due case d'Israele; e lacciuolo, e rovina per gli abitatori di Gerusalemme.	14 He will be a sanctuary, a stumbling-stone, a rock to trip up the two Houses of Israel; a snare and a trapfor the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
15 E moltissimi di loro inciamperanno, e caderanno, e s'infrangeranno, e saranno illaqueati, e saranno presi.	15 over which many of them wil stumble, fal and be broken, be ensnared and made captive.
16 Ripiega la testimonianza, sigilla la legge pe' miei discepoli.	16 Bind up the testimony, seal the instruction in the heart of my disciples.'
17 Or io aspetterò il Signore, il quale ha ascosa la sua faccia alla casa di Giacobbe, e mi affiderò a lui.	17 My trust is in Yahweh who hides his face from the House of Jacob; I put my hope in him.
18 Eccomi io, e i miei figliuoli dati a me dal Signore in segno, e portento ad Israele per parte del Signore degli eserciti, che abita nel monte di Sion.	18 Look, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me shal become signs and portents in Israel onbehalf of Yahweh Sabaoth who dwel s on Mount Zion.
19 Or quando diranno a voi: Interrogate i pithoni, e gl'indovini, i quali stridono ne' loro incantesimi (rispondete): Non ricorrerà egli il popolo al suo Dio? (ricorrerà egli) a' morti pe' vivi?	19 And should people say to you, 'Go and consult ghosts and wizards that whisper and mutter' -- a peopleshould certainly consult its gods and the dead on behalf of the living!
20 Alla legge piuttosto, ed all'arca. Che se ei non parleranno conformemente a questa parola, non nascerà per essi la luce del giorno.	20 As regards instruction and testimony, without doubt this is how they wil talk, and hence there wil be nodawn for them.
21 E (la luce) passerà da loro, ed eglino cadran per terra, e patiranno la fame, e infuneranno, e malediranno il re loro, e il Dio loro, e alzeran gli occhi in su.	21 Oppressed and starving he wil wander the country; and, once starving, he wil become frenzied andcurse his king and his God; turning his gaze upward,
22 E mireranno la terra, ed ecco tribolazione, e tenebre, e scompaginamento, ed angustia, e caligine, che gli perseguita, e non potranno sottrarsi a volo dalla loro afflizione.	22 then down to earth, there wil be only anguish, gloom, the confusion of night, swirling darkness.
	23 For is not everything dark as night for a country in distress? As the past humbled the land of Zebulunand the land of Naphtali, so the future will glorify the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, the territory of thenations.
