Isaia 5

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Canterò al mio diletto la canzone di lui, che è mio parente, sopra la sua vigna. Il mio diletto ha una vigna in colle ubertoso.	1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.
2 E le fece sua siepe, e la sgombrò dalle pietre, e la pianto ai eletti vitigni, ed edificò in mezzo a lei una torre, e vi alzò uno strettoio, e aspettò, che facesse delle uve, e fece delle lambrusche.	2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.
3 Or adunque voi abitatori di Gerusalemme, e voi uomini di Giuda, giudicate tra me, e la mia vigna.	3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.
4 Che è quello, ch'io far dovessi per la mia vigna, e fatto noll'abbia? Forse perchè ho aspettato, che facesse delle uve, ed ella ha fatto delle lambrusche?	4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?
5 Ed ora io vi spiegherò quel, che sono per fare alla mia vigna; toglierò via la sua siepe, ed ella sarà devastata; getterò a terra la sua macia, ed ella sarà conculcata.	5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.
6 E la renderò deserta, e non sarà potata, né sarchiata, e vi cresceranno sterpi, e spine, e comanderò alle nuvole, che non piovano stilla sopra di lei.	6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.
7 Imperocché la vigna del Signore degli eserciti, ella è la casa d'Israele; se gli uomini di Giuda (sono) piantagione diletta di lui; ed aspettai, che facesse giudizio, ed eccoti l'iniquità, e (aspettai) la giustizia, ed ecco le strida.	7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.
8 Guai a voi, che aggiungete casa a casa, e podere a podere, finché luogo rimanga: abiterete forse voi soli in mezzo alla terra?	8 Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field until there is nowhere left and they are thesole inhabitants of the country.
9 Queste cose io ascolto, dice il Signor degli eserciti: In verità molte case e grandi, e belle saran deserte, e senza abitatore.	9 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn this in my hearing, 'Many houses wil be brought to ruin, great and fine ones left untenanted;
10 Imperocché dieci jugeri di vigna renderanno un fiasco, e trenta moggia di sementa renderanno tre moggia.	10 for ten acres of vineyard wil yield only one barrel, and ten bushel of seed wil yield only one bushel.'
11 Guai a voi, che vi alzate di buon mattino a ubbriacarvi, e a sbevazzare fino alla sera, onde andate a fuoco pel vino.	11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.
12 Cetra, e lira, e timpano, e tromba, e vino ne' vostri conviti; né all'opera di Dio date uno sguardo, né considerate le opere delle sue mani.	12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.
13 Per questo il popol mio è stato condotto in ischiavitù, perchè non ha avuta intelligenza, e i suoi nobili sono morti di fame, e la sua moltitudine arse di sete.	13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.
14 Per questo l'inferno ha dilatato il suo seno, ed ha aperta la bocca sua smisurata, e vi cadranno i loro campioni, e il popolo, e gli uomini eminenti, e gloriosi.	14 That is why Sheol opens wide its throat and gapes with measureless jaw and down go her noblemenand populace and her loud revellers merry to the last!
15 E sarà incurvato il plebeo, e il grande umiliato; e saran depressi gli occhi de' magnati.	15 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low, and the eyes of the proud have beenhumbled.
16 E il Signore degli eserciti sarà esaltato nel (suo) giudizio, e il Dio santo sarà riconosciuto per santo nel far giustizia.	16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!
17 E pascoleranno gli agnelli secondo il lor uso, e de' terreni deserti ridotti a fertilità viveranno gli stranieri.	17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.
18 Guai a voi, che tirate l'iniquità colle funi della vanità, e il peccato come il carro colla fune (si tira).	18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;
19 I quali dite: Si affretti, e venga presto quel, ch'ei vuol fare, affinchè veggiamo; e si avvicini, e venga la risoluzione del Santo d'Israele, e l'intenderemo.	19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'
20 Guai a voi, che dite il male bene, e il bene male, e date per buio la luce, e per luce le tenebre, e l'amaro date per dolce, e il dolce per amaro.	20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
21 Guai a voi, che siete saggi negli occhi vostri, e nel cospetto vostro prudenti.	21 Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves enlightened.
22 Guai a voi, che siete valorosi a ber vino, e uomini forti a mescere liquori inebrianti,	22 Woe to those whose might lies in wine bibbing, their heroism in mixing strong drinks,
23 Voi, che per donativi assolvete l'empio, e il giusto spogliate di sua giustizia.	23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deny justice to the upright.
24 Per questo come la lingua del fuoco divora le stoppie, e il calor della fiamma le abbrucia, cosi la loro radice sarà quasi favilla, e il loro fiore spergerassi qual polvere. Imperocché han rigettata la legge del Signore degli eserciti, ed han bestemmiata la parola del Santo d'Israele.	24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Per questo il furor del Signore si è acceso contro il suo popolo, e ha stesa sopra di lui la sua mano, e lo ha percosso; e i monti ne son restati commossi, e i loro cadaveri qual fango giacciono in mezzo alle piazze. Né per tutto questo il furore di lui si è acquietato, ma è estesa tuttora la mano di lui.	25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!
26 E alzerà bandiera alle nazioni di lontano, e col fischio chiamerà lui dall'estremità della terra, ed ecco, che egli sollecito verrà con fretta.	26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!
27 Non è tra di loro chi sia stanco, od infermo, né sonnacchioso, né dormiglione, non deporrà (mai) il cingolo de suoi fianchi, né scioglierà le corregge delle sue scarpe.	27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.
28 Le saette di lui aguzze, e tesi tutti i suoi archi. Gli zoccoli de' suoi cavalli sono qual selce, e la ruote impetuose come bufera.	28 Their arrows are sharpened, their bows al strung, their horses' hoofs you would think were flint andtheir wheels, a whirlwind!
29 Ei rugge come lione, ruggirà come un branco di giovani leoni, e fremerà, e darà di piglio alla preda, e la terrà stretta, né sarà chi gliela strappi.	29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,
30 E il romore di lui sarà per essi in quel giorno come fiotto di mare: guarderemo la terra, ed ecco tenebre di tribolazione, di cui la caligine oscura la luce.	30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.
