1 Anunzio pesante contro Tiro. Gettate urli, e navi del mare: perocché è desolata la casa, onde solevan tornare. Dalla terra di Cetim ne hanno avuto l'avviso.	1 Oracle on Tyre: Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for your port is destroyed; From the land of the Kittim the news reaches them.
2 Tacete, o abitatori dell'isola: tu eri piena di mercatanti di Sidone, che valicavano il mare.	2 Silence! you who dwell on the coast, you merchants of Sidon, Whose messengers crossed the sea
3 La semenza, che cresce nelle ridondanti acque del Nilo, e le messi del fiume eran sua raccolta: ed ella era divenuta l'emporio delle nazioni,	3 over the deep waters. The grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue, and she the merchant among nations.
4 Vergognati, o Sidone: così dice il mare, e la padrona del mare: tu che dici: Non ho concepito, e non ho partorito, e non ho educato i giovani, né allevate le fanciulle.	4 Shame, O Sidon, fortress on the sea, for the sea has spoken: "I have not been in labor, nor given birth, nor raised young men, nor reared virgins."
5 Allorché arriveranno novelle in Egitto, avran dolore di quel, che udiranno riguardo a Tiro.	5 When it is heard in Egypt they shall be in anguish at the news of Tyre.
6 Passate i mari, alzate le strida, abitatori dell'isola:	6 Pass over to Tarshish, wailing, you who dwell on the coast!
7 E non è ella questa la vostra (città), la quale già tempo gloriavasi di sua antichità? I suoi piedi la condurrano in rimoto pellegrinaggio.	7 Is this your wanton city, whose origin is from old, Whose feet have taken her to dwell in distant lands?
8 Chi è, che tali cose ha stabilite contro di Tiro, la quale un dì portava corona? I suoi mercatanti erano principi, e i suoi negozianti erano lo splendor del paese.	8 Who has planned such a thing against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, Whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the earth's honored men?
9 Il Signor degli eserciti ha stabilito questo per conculcare la superbia di tutti i gloriosi, e per ridurre all'obbrobrio tutto lo splendor del paese.	9 The LORD of hosts has planned it, to disgrace all pride of majesty, to degrade all the earth's honored men.
10 Esci come un rigagnolo dalla tua terra, o figlia del mare; tu non hai più cintura.	10 Cross to your own land, O ship of Tarshish; the harbor is no more.
11 Egli ha stesa la mano sua contro il mare, ha scommossi i regni. Il Signore ha dati ordini contro di Chanaan, per isterminare i suoi campioni.	11 His hand he stretches out over the sea, he shakes kingdoms; The LORD has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.
12 Ed egli ha detto: Tu non ti vanterai più quando sarai stata oppressa, o vergine figlia di Sidone: alzati, naviga a Cetim, e ivi pure non avrai riposo.	12 You shall exult no more, he says, you who are now oppressed, virgin daughter Sidon. Arise, pass over to the Kittim, even there you shall find no rest.
13 Ecco la terra de' Caldei: non fu mai popolo tale: Assur lo fondò: ora i suoi campioni sono stati menati schiavi, sono state atterrate le sue case, lo hanno ridotto una rovina.	13 (This people is the land of the Chaldeans, not Assyria.) She whom the impious founded, setting up towers for her, Has had her castles destroyed, and has been turned into a ruin.
14 Gettate urla, o navi del mare, perchè il vostro baluardo è stato distrutto.	14 Lament, O ships of Tarshish, for your haven is destroyed.
15 E allora sarà, che tu, o Tiro, resterai dimenticata per settant'anni, quant'è la vita di un re, e dopo i settant'anni sarà Tiro quasi meretrice, che canta.	15 On that day, Tyre shall be forgotten for seventy years. With the days of another king, at the end of seventy years, it shall be for Tyre as in the song about the harlot:
16 Prendi la cetra, va attorno per la città, o meretrice posta in obblio; canta dolcemente, ripeti la tua canzone, affinché si ricordino di te.	16 Take a harp, go about the city, O forgotten harlot; Pluck the strings skillfully, sing many songs, that they may remember you.
17 E dopo i settant'anni il Signore visiterà Tiro, e la renderà al suo mercimonio, ed ella avrà commercio come prima con tutti i regni del mondo, quanto si stende la terra.	17 At the end of the seventy years the LORD shall visit Tyre. She shall return to her hire and deal with all the world's kingdoms on the face of the earth.
18 E i suoi traffichi, e i suoi guadagni saranno consagrati al Signore: non saranno riposti, né messi a parte; imperocché il suo mercimonio sarà per utile di quegli che staranno dinanzi al Signore, perchè mangino fino ad esser satolli, e siano rivestiti fino alla vecchiaia.	18 But her merchandise and her hire shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be stored up or laid away, but from her merchandise those who dwell before the LORD shall eat their fill and clothe themselves in choice attire.
