BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 - Prese allora a parlare il Signore a Giobbe dalla procella e disse:	1 But the Lord, answering Job out of the whirlwind, said:
2 «Recingi pur da uomo [forte] i tuoi fianchi, io t'interrogherò e tu ammaestrami.	2 Gird your waist like a man. I will question you, and you must answer me.
3 Renderai tu forse vano il mio diritto, e darai torto a me per aver te ragione?	3 Will you make my judgment null and void; and will you condemn me so that you may be justified?
4 E se hai un braccio come quello di Dio, e il tuono della tua voce è simile al suo,	4 And do you have an arm like God, or a voice like thunder?
5 circondati d'eccellenza e lèvati in alto, sii glorioso e ammantati di magnifiche vesti:	5 Envelop yourself with splendor, and raise yourself up on high, and be glorious, and put on splendid garments.
6 disperdi nel tuo furore i superbi, e ogni altiero che tu veda umilialo:	6 Scatter the arrogant with your wrath, and, when you see all the arrogant, humble them.
7 volgi lo sguardo su tutti i superbi e confondili, e infrangi gli empii là ove si trovano;	7 Look down upon each of the arrogant and confound them, and crush the impious in their place.
8 nascondili insieme nella polvere, e nella fossa immergi i loro volti;	8 Hide them in the dust together and plunge their faces into the pit.
9 allora anch'io riconosceròche la tua destra ti può salvare!	9 Then I will confess that your right hand is able to save you.
10 Ecco Behemoth, che io ho fatto insieme con te: erba come un bove esso mangia;	10 Behold, the behemoth, whom I created along with you, eats hay like an ox.
11 la sua forza sta nei suoi fianchi, la sua vigoria nell'ombelico del suo ventre.	11 His strength is in his lower back, and his power is in the center of his abdomen.
12 Indura esso la sua coda come un cedro, i tendini delle sue cosce sono avviluppati;	12 He draws up his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs have been drawn together.
13 le sue ossa sono come canne di bronzo, la sua cartilagine come lamine di ferro.	13 His bones are like pipes of brass; his cartilage is like plates of iron.
14 Esso è il primo dei prodotti di Dio; chi lo ha fatto, lo domina con la sua spada.	14 He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him; he will use him as his sword.
15 Ad esso i monti forniscono le erbe, là ove scherzano tutte le bestie del campo.	15 The mountains bring forth grass for him; all the beasts of the field will play there.
16 Sotto l'ombra esso dorme, nell'interno dei canneti e nei luoghi paludosi;	16 He sleeps in the shadows, under the cover of branches, and in moist places.
17 lo ricoprono i loti con la loro ombra, e lo circondano i salici da torrente.	17 The shadows cover his shadow; the willows of the brook will encircle him.
18 Ecco, esso tracanna un fiume senza scomporsi, e rimane tranquillo anche se il Giordano irrompa contro il suo muso.	18 Behold, he will drink a river and not be amazed, and he has confidence that the Jordan could flow into his mouth.
19 Chi mai potrà abbrancarlo tra le occhiaie con un amo, e con lesine forerà le sue narici?	19 He will seize him through his eyes, as if with a hook, and he will bore through his nostrils, as if with stakes.
20 Forse potrai estrarre con l'amo Leviathan, e con una fune legherai tu la sua lingua?	20 Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, and can you bind his tongue with a cord?
21 Metterai tu forse un anello alle sue narici, e con un gancio gli bucherai la mascella?	21 Can you place a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with an arm band?
22 Si metterà esso forse con insistenza a pregarti, ovvero ti rivolgerà parole tenere?	22 Will he offer many prayers to you, or speak to you quietly?
23 Stringerà forse con te un patto, perchè tu lo prenda qual servo per sempre?	23 Will he form a covenant with you, and will you accept him as a servant forever?
24 Giocheresti forse con lui come con un uccello, o gli metteresti un laccio per [trastullar] le tue ancelle?	24 Will you play with him as with a bird, or tether him for your handmaids?
25 Lo squarteranno forse i soci [della pesca], lo taglieranno i venditori [di pesce]?	25 Will your friends cut him into pieces, will dealers distribute him?
26 Potresti tu riempir le reti con la sua pelle, e il cesto dei pesci con la sua testa?	26 Will you fill up bags with his hide, and let his head be used as a home for fishes?
27 Mettigli la tua mano addosso: preparati alla guerra, e non parlar più!	27 Place your hand upon him; remember the battle and speak no more.
28 Infatti, la speranza di chi [gli dà la caccia] rimane delusa, perchè sotto gli occhi di tutti costui sarà atterrato.	28 Behold, his hope will fail him, and in the sight of all, he will be thrown down.
