Canticum ipsi David, quando domus ædificabatur post captivitatem. Cantate Domino canticum novum ; cantate Domino omnis terra. | 1 Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation. |
Cantate Domino, et benedicite nomini ejus ; annuntiate de die in diem salutare ejus. | 2 Let us greet him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms. |
Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus ; in omnibus populis mirabilia ejus. | 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great king over all gods, |
Quoniam magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis : terribilis est super omnes deos. | 4 Whose hand holds the depths of the earth; who owns the tops of the mountains. |
Quoniam omnes dii gentium dæmonia ; Dominus autem cælos fecit. | 5 The sea and dry land belong to God, who made them, formed them by hand. |
Confessio et pulchritudo in conspectu ejus ; sanctimonia et magnificentia in sanctificatione ejus. | 6 Enter, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who made us. |
Afferte Domino, patriæ gentium, afferte Domino gloriam et honorem ; | 7 For this is our God, whose people we are, God's well-tended flock. Oh, that today you would hear his voice: |
afferte Domino gloriam nomini ejus. Tollite hostias, et introite in atria ejus ; | 8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on the day of Massah in the desert. |
adorate Dominum in atrio sancto ejus. Commoveatur a facie ejus universa terra ; | 9 There your ancestors tested me; they tried me though they had seen my works. |
dicite in gentibus, quia Dominus regnavit. Etenim correxit orbem terræ, qui non commovebitur ; judicabit populos in æquitate. | 10 Forty years I loathed that generation; I said: "This people's heart goes astray; they do not know my ways." |
Lætentur cæli, et exsultet terra ; commoveatur mare et plenitudo ejus ; | 11 Therefore I swore in my anger: "They shall never enter my rest." |
gaudebunt campi, et omnia quæ in eis sunt. Tunc exsultabunt omnia ligna silvarum | |
a facie Domini, quia venit, quoniam venit judicare terram. Judicabit orbem terræ in æquitate, et populos in veritate sua. |
