Canticum ipsi David, quando domus ædificabatur post captivitatem. Cantate Domino canticum novum ; cantate Domino omnis terra. | 1 Come, let us cry out with joy to Yahweh, acclaim the rock of our salvation. |
Cantate Domino, et benedicite nomini ejus ; annuntiate de die in diem salutare ejus. | 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, acclaim him with music. |
Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus ; in omnibus populis mirabilia ejus. | 3 For Yahweh is a great God, a king greater than al the gods. |
Quoniam magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis : terribilis est super omnes deos. | 4 In his power are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are his; |
Quoniam omnes dii gentium dæmonia ; Dominus autem cælos fecit. | 5 the sea belongs to him, for he made it, and the dry land, moulded by his hands. |
Confessio et pulchritudo in conspectu ejus ; sanctimonia et magnificentia in sanctificatione ejus. | 6 Come, let us bow low and do reverence; kneel before Yahweh who made us! |
Afferte Domino, patriæ gentium, afferte Domino gloriam et honorem ; | 7 For he is our God, and we the people of his sheepfold, the flock of his hand. If only you would listen tohim today! |
afferte Domino gloriam nomini ejus. Tollite hostias, et introite in atria ejus ; | 8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as at the time of Massah in the desert, |
adorate Dominum in atrio sancto ejus. Commoveatur a facie ejus universa terra ; | 9 when your ancestors chal enged me, put me to the test, and saw what I could do! |
dicite in gentibus, quia Dominus regnavit. Etenim correxit orbem terræ, qui non commovebitur ; judicabit populos in æquitate. | 10 For forty years that generation sickened me, and I said, 'Always fickle hearts; they cannot grasp myways.' |
Lætentur cæli, et exsultet terra ; commoveatur mare et plenitudo ejus ; | 11 Then in my anger I swore they would never enter my place of rest. |
gaudebunt campi, et omnia quæ in eis sunt. Tunc exsultabunt omnia ligna silvarum | |
a facie Domini, quia venit, quoniam venit judicare terram. Judicabit orbem terræ in æquitate, et populos in veritate sua. |
