Canticum ipsi David, quando domus ædificabatur post captivitatem. Cantate Domino canticum novum ; cantate Domino omnis terra. | 1 Come let us praise the Lord with joy: let us joyfully sing to God our saviour. |
Cantate Domino, et benedicite nomini ejus ; annuntiate de die in diem salutare ejus. | 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and make a joyful noise to him with psalms. |
Annuntiate inter gentes gloriam ejus ; in omnibus populis mirabilia ejus. | 3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. |
Quoniam magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis : terribilis est super omnes deos. | 4 For in his hand are all the ends of the earth: and the heights of the mountains are his. |
Quoniam omnes dii gentium dæmonia ; Dominus autem cælos fecit. | 5 For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. |
Confessio et pulchritudo in conspectu ejus ; sanctimonia et magnificentia in sanctificatione ejus. | 6 Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us. |
Afferte Domino, patriæ gentium, afferte Domino gloriam et honorem ; | 7 For he is the Lord our God: and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. |
afferte Domino gloriam nomini ejus. Tollite hostias, et introite in atria ejus ; | 8 To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts: |
adorate Dominum in atrio sancto ejus. Commoveatur a facie ejus universa terra ; | 9 As in the provocation, according to the day of temptation in the wilderness: where your fathers tempted me, they proved me, and saw my works. |
dicite in gentibus, quia Dominus regnavit. Etenim correxit orbem terræ, qui non commovebitur ; judicabit populos in æquitate. | 10 Forty years long was I offended with that generation, and I said: These always err in heart. |
Lætentur cæli, et exsultet terra ; commoveatur mare et plenitudo ejus ; | 11 And these men have not known my ways: so I swore in my wrath that they shall not enter into my rest. |
gaudebunt campi, et omnia quæ in eis sunt. Tunc exsultabunt omnia ligna silvarum | |
a facie Domini, quia venit, quoniam venit judicare terram. Judicabit orbem terræ in æquitate, et populos in veritate sua. |
