Psalmi 33

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Davidi, cum immutavit vultum suum coram Achimelech, et dimisit eum, et abiit.	1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.
2 Benedicam Dominum in omni tempore ; semper laus ejus in ore meo.	2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 In Domino laudabitur anima mea : audiant mansueti, et lætentur.	3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.
4 Magnificate Dominum mecum, et exaltemus nomen ejus in idipsum.	4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.
5 Exquisivi Dominum, et exaudivit me ; et ex omnibus tribulationibus meis eripuit me.	5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.
6 Accedite ad eum, et illuminamini ; et facies vestræ non confundentur.	6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.
7 Iste pauper clamavit, et Dominus exaudivit eum, et de omnibus tribulationibus ejus salvavit eum.	7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.
8 Immittet angelus Domini in circuitu timentium eum, et eripiet eos.	8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;
9 Gustate et videte quoniam suavis est Dominus ; beatus vir qui sperat in eo.	9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!
10 Timete Dominum, omnes sancti ejus, quoniam non est inopia timentibus eum.	10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;
11 Divites eguerunt, et esurierunt ; inquirentes autem Dominum non minuentur omni bono.	11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.
12 Venite, filii ; audite me : timorem Domini docebo vos.	12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.
13 Quis est homo qui vult vitam ; diligit dies videre bonos ?	13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,
14 Prohibe linguam tuam a malo, et labia tua ne loquantur dolum.	14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;
15 Diverte a malo, et fac bonum ; inquire pacem, et persequere eam.	15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.
16 Oculi Domini super justos, et aures ejus in preces eorum.	16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;
17 Vultus autem Domini super facientes mala, ut perdat de terra memoriam eorum.	17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.
18 Clamaverunt justi, et Dominus exaudivit eos ; et ex omnibus tribulationibus eorum liberavit eos.	18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,
19 Juxta est Dominus iis qui tribulato sunt corde, et humiles spiritu salvabit.	19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20 Multæ tribulationes justorum ; et de omnibus his liberabit eos Dominus.	20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,
21 Custodit Dominus omnia ossa eorum : unum ex his non conteretur.	21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.
22 Mors peccatorum pessima ; et qui oderunt justum delinquent.	22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.
23 Redimet Dominus animas servorum suorum, et non delinquent omnes qui sperant in eo.
