Giobbe 33

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Ascolta dunque, o Giobbe, le mie parole, e a tutti i miei discorsi presta orecchio.	1 So, Job, please listen to my words and attend to al I have to say.
2 Ecco che io apro la mia bocca, e la mia lingua nel mio palato parla;	2 Now as I open my mouth, and my tongue shapes words against my palate,
3 dal mio schietto cuore [procedono] i miei discorsi, e le mie labbra proferiscono sentenze monde:	3 I shal utter words of wisdom from the heart, my lips will speak in all sincerity.
4 il soffio di Dio m'ha fatto, e l'alito dell'Onnipotente mi diè vita;	4 God's was the spirit that made me, Shaddai's the breath that gave me life.
5 se tu puoi, rispondimi, e prendi posizione contro di me:	5 Refute me, if you can. Prepare yourself, take up your position!
6 ecco, tanto me quanto te ha fatto Dio, e dallo stesso fango fui formato anch'io;	6 Look, I am your equal, not some god, like you I was moulded out of clay.
7 quindi, non temere di me come di cosa straordinaria, e la mia eloquenza non ti sia grave.	7 No fear of me, therefore, need affright you, my hand wil not lie heavy over you.
8 Tu dunque ai detto ai miei orecchi, e il suono delle tue parole udii:	8 How could you say in my hearing -- for the sound of your words did not escape me-
9 " Puro son io, e senza delitto; immacolato e scevro d'iniquità;	9 'I am clean, and sinless, I am pure, without fault.
10 [ma] poichè [Dio] trovò in me delle querele, per questo mi stima come suo nemico;	10 But he keeps inventing excuses against me and regards me as his enemy.
11 nel ceppo egli ha posto i miei piedied ha osservato tutte le mie strade! ".	11 He puts me in the stocks, he watches my every path'?
12 Ebbene, questo è dove tu non hai ragione - io ti rispondo -perchè Dio è più grande dell'uomo.	12 In saying so, I tel you, you are wrong: for God is greater than any human being.
13 Contro di Lui vuoi tu contendere perchè non ha risposto a tutte le tue parole?	13 Why then quarrel with him for not replying to you, word for word?
14 In una prima maniera parla Dio, e poi una seconda ma non vi si pone mente.	14 God speaks first in one way, and then in another, although we do not realise it.
15 Per mezzo del sogno nella visione notturna, quando il sopore si riversa sugli uominied essi dormono sul giaciglio;	15 In dreams and in night-visions, when slumber has settled on humanity and people are asleep in bed,
16 allora apre egli l'orecchio agli uomini, e li erudisce istruendoli nella disciplina,	16 he speaks in someone's ear, frightens him with apparitions
17 affin di ritrarre l'uomo da ciò che sta operando, e liberarlo dalla superbia:	17 to turn him from what he is doing and to put an end to his pride.
18 così che libera l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e la sua vita dal passar per la spada.	18 And thus he preserves his soul from the abyss, his life from passing down the Canal.
19 Ovver lo castiga col dolore sul letto, e tutte le sue ossa fa imputridire;	19 Or again, he corrects by the sufferings of the sick-bed, when someone's bones tremble continuously
20 abominevole diventa a lui nel suo stato il cibo, e l'alimento al suo essere che prima lo gustava:	20 and the thought of food revolts him, however tasty it is,
21 la carne di lui si va consumando, e le ossa, già ricoperte, si denudano;	21 and his flesh rots away while you watch it and the bones beneath begin to show,
22 così l'anima sua s'avvicina allo sterminio, e la sua vita agli esseri mortiferi.	22 and his soul is drawing nearer to the abyss and his life to the dwel ing of the dead.
23 Ma se vi sarà in suo favore un angeloun interprete - uno fra mille - che mostri all'uomo il suo dovere,	23 Then, if there is an Angel near him, a Mediator, one in a thousand, to remind him where his duty lies,
24 [Dio] avrà pietà di lui e dirà:- Liberalo, sì che non scenda al [luogo di] sterminio, poichè ho trovato ciò che mi muove a sua pietà;	24 to take pity on him and to say, 'Spare him from going down to the abyss: I have found the ransom forhis life,'
25 la sua carne è consumata dai tormenti, [ma] ritorni come ai giorni di sua giovinezza! -	25 his flesh wil recover its childhood freshness, he wil return to the days of his youth.
26 Egli pregherà Dio che gli sarà propizio, mostrerà il suo volto in giubilo, e renderà all'uomo la sua giustizia;	26 He wil pray to God who has restored him to favour, and wil come into his presence with joy. He wiltel others how he has received saving justice
27 questi rivolto agli uomini dirà:- Avevo peccato e veramente prevaricato, e non fui contraccambiato come meritavo! -	27 and sing this hymn before his companions, 'I sinned and left the path of right, but God has notpunished me as my sin deserved.
28 [Dio] liberò l'anima sua dal cader nella morte, sì che vivendo vedesse la luce.	28 He has spared my soul from going down to the abyss and is making my life see the light.'
29 Ecco, tutto ciò opera Diopiù e più volte con ciascuno,	29 All this is what God keeps doing again and yet again for human beings,
30 affin di ritrarre l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e illuminarla della luce dei viventi.	30 to snatch souls back from the abyss and to make the light of the living stil shine.
31 Sta' attento, Giobbe, ascoltami, e taci mentre io parlo:	31 Pay attention, Job, listen to me: keep quiet, I have more to say.
32 se hai qualche cosa da dire, rispondimi, parla pure, perchè io gradirei darti ragione:	32 If you have anything to say, refute me, speak out, for I would gladly accept that you are upright.
33 se non hai nulla, ascoltami, taci e io t'insegnerò la sapienza.»	33 If not, then listen to me: keep quiet, and I wil teach you wisdom.
