Geremia 8

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, saran gettate fuora de' lor sepolcri le ossa dei re di Giuda, e le ossa de' suoi principi, e le ossa de' sacerdoti, e le ossa de' profeti, e le ossa di quegli, che abitaron Gerusalemme:	1 'When that time comes, Yahweh declares, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its chief men,the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, wil be takenfrom their tombs.
2 E le esporranno al sole, e alla luna, e a tutta la milizia del cielo, che son le cose, ch'essi hanno amato, e alle quali hanno servito, e dietro alle quali andavano, e le quali cercavano, e adoravano. Le ossa non saranno raccolte, né seppellite: saran come sterco sulla faccia della terra.	2 They wil be spread out before the sun, the moon, the whole array of heaven, whom they have loved andserved, fol owed, consulted and worshipped. They wil not be gathered or reburied but will be left lying on thesurface like dung.
3 E ameranno la morte più che la vita tutti quelli, che di questa stirpe pessima resteranno in tutti i luoghi abbandonati, dov' io gli ho cacciati, dice il Signore degli eserciti.	3 And death will seem preferable to life to al the survivors of this wicked race, wherever I have driventhem, Yahweh Sabaoth declares.
4 Ma tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signore: Forse colui, che cade, non si rialza? E chi è uscito di strada non la ripiglia?	4 'You are to tel them, "Yahweh says this: If someone fal s, can he not stand up again? If people stray,can they not turn back?
5 E perchè adunque questo popolo di Gerusalemme si è ribellato con ribellione pertinace? Hanno stretta la menzogna, e non han voluto ricredersi.	5 Why does this people persist in acts of infidelity, why does Jerusalem persist in continuous infidelity?They cling to il usion, they refuse to turn back.
6 Io li considerai, e gli ascoltai: nissuno parla di quel, che è bene, nissuno è, che faccia penitenza del suo peccato, e dica: Che ho fatt'io? Si sono tutti rivolti alla loro carriera come cavallo, che impetuosamente va alla battaglia.	6 I have listened attentively: they have never said anything like that. Not one repents of wickednesssaying: What have I done? Each one keeps returning to the course like a horse charging into battle.
7 Il nibbio nell'aria conosce il suo tempo; la tortorella, e la rondine, e la cicogna osservan costantemente il tempo del lor passaggio; ma il mio popolo non ha conosciuto il giudizio del Signore.	7 Even the stork in the sky knows the appropriate season; turtledove, swal ow and crane observe theirtime of migration. But my people do not know Yahweh's laws!" '
8 Come mai dite: Noi siamo saggi, la legge del Signore è nelle nostre mani? veramente lo stile bugiardo degli scribi ha vergato menzogne.	8 How can you say, 'We are wise, since we have Yahweh's Law?' Look how it has been falsified by thelying pen of the scribes!
9 I saggi sono confusi, atterriti, e presi; perocché rigettarono la Parola del Signore, e non è in essi nissuna saggezza.	9 The wise are put to shame, alarmed, caught out because they have rejected Yahweh's word. What pricetheir wisdom now?
10 Per questo io darò a' forestieri le mogli loro, e i loro poderi ad altri eredi: perchè dal più piccolo fino al più grande tutti van dietro all'avarizia: dal profeta fino al sacerdote tutti sono bugiardi.	10 So I shal give their wives to other men, their fields to new masters, for, from the least to greatest, theyare al greedy for gain; prophet no less than priest, al of them practise fraud.
11 E sanavano la piaga della figlia del popol mio con burlarsi di lei, dicendo: Pace, pace, quando non era pace,	11 Without concern they dress the wound of the daughter of my people, saying, 'Peace! Peace!' whereasthere is no peace.
12 Sono confusi, perchè hanno fatto cose abbominevoli: anzi non son veramente confusi, e non han saputo arrossire; per questo cadranno tra que', che periscono, nel tempo, in cui saran visitati, periranno, dice il Signore.	12 They should be ashamed of their loathsome deeds. Not they! They feel no shame, they do not evenknow how to blush. And so as others fall, they too wil fal , will be thrown down when the time for punishing themcomes, Yahweh says.
13 Io li raunerò tutti, dice il Signore: Le viti son senza uve, e la ficaia è senza fichi, le foglie stesse sono cadute, e le cose, ch'io diedi loro, se ne son' ite.	13 I shal put an end to them, Yahweh declares, no more grapes on the vine, no more figs on the fig treeonly withered leaves: I have found them people to trample on them!
14 Perchè stiamo a sedere? Raunatevi, e andiamo nella città forte, ed ivi stiam in silenzio; perocché il Signore Dio nostro ci ha condannati al silenzio, e ci ha dato a bere acqua di fiele: perchè contro il Signore abbiam peccato.	14 Why are we sitting still? Mobilise! Take to the fortified towns and there fall silent, since Yahweh ourGod means to silence us by giving us poisoned water to drink because we have sinned against him.
15 Aspettavamo la pace, e questo bene non venne: il tempo di guarigione, ed ecco terrori.	15 We are hoping for peace -- no good came of it! For the time of healing -- nothing but terror!
16 Da Dan si è udito il nitrire de' suoi cavalli, al romore strepitoso de' suoi combattenti è stata scommossa tutta la terra. E son venuti, e han divorata la terra, e le sue ricchezze; le città, e i loro abitatori.	16 From Dan you can hear the snorting of his horses; at the neighing of his stal ions the whole countryquakes; they are coming to devour the country and its contents, the town and those that live in it.
17 Imperocché ecco che io manderò contro di voi de' serpenti, e de' basilischi, che non s'incantano; e vi morderanno, dice il Signore:	17 Yes, now I am sending you poisonous snakes against which no charm exists; and they wil bite you,Yahweh declares.
18 Il mio dolore passa ogni dolore: io porto un cuore angustiato.	18 Incurable sorrow overtakes me, my heart fails me.
19 Odo la voce della figlia del popol mio: Non è egli più il Signore in Sionne? O il suo Re non è egli più dentro di lei? E perchè adunque mi provocarono a sdegno co' loro simolacri, e con vanità forestiere?	19 Hark, from the daughter of my people the cry for help, ringing far and wide throughout the land! 'IsYahweh no longer in Zion, her King no longer there?' (Why have they provoked me with their idols, with theirfutile foreign gods?)
20 La mietitura è passata, l'estate è finita, e noi non siam liberati.	20 'Harvest is over, summer at an end, and we have not been saved!'
21 L'afflizione della figlia del popol mio mi affligge, e mi contrista; l'orrore si è impossessato di me.	21 The wound of the daughter of my people wounds me too, all looks dark to me, terror grips me.
22 Non vi è egli resina in Galaad? O non hai tu verun medico? Perche adunque non è ella rammarginata la ferita della figliuola del popol mio?	22 Is there no balm in Gilead any more? Is no doctor there? Then why is there no progress in the cure ofthe daughter of my people?
	23 Who wil turn my head into a fountain, and my eyes into a spring of tears, that I can weep day and nightover the slain of the daughter of my people?
