BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Alleluia. Lodate il Signore e invocate il suo nome, proclamate tra i popoli le sue opere.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!
2 Cantate a lui canti di gioia, meditate tutti i suoi prodigi.	2 Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!
3 Gloriatevi del suo santo nome: gioisca il cuore di chi cerca il Signore.	3 Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!
4 Cercate il Signore e la sua potenza, cercate sempre il suo volto.	4 Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!
5 Ricordate le meraviglie che ha compiute, i suoi prodigi e i giudizi della sua bocca:	5 Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.
6 voi stirpe di Abramo, suo servo, figli di Giacobbe, suo eletto.	6 Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!
7 È lui il Signore, nostro Dio, su tutta la terra i suoi giudizi.	7 He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.
8 Ricorda sempre la sua alleanza: parola data per mille generazioni,	8 He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,
9 l'alleanza stretta con Abramo e il suo giuramento ad Isacco.	9 which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
10 La stabilì per Giacobbe come legge, come alleanza eterna per Israele:	10 He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,
11 "Ti darò il paese di Cànaan come eredità a voi toccata in sorte".	11 saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'
12 Quando erano in piccolo numero, pochi e forestieri in quella terra,	12 When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,
13 e passavano di paese in paese, da un regno ad un altro popolo,	13 wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,
14 non permise che alcuno li opprimesse e castigò i re per causa loro:	14 he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,
15 "Non toccate i miei consacrati, non fate alcun male ai miei profeti".	15 'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'
16 Chiamò la fame sopra quella terra e distrusse ogni riserva di pane.	16 He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;
17 Davanti a loro mandò un uomo, Giuseppe, venduto come schiavo.	17 he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.
18 Gli strinsero i piedi con ceppi, il ferro gli serrò la gola,	18 So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.
19 finché si avverò la sua predizione e la parola del Signore gli rese giustizia.	19 In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.
20 Il re mandò a scioglierlo, il capo dei popoli lo fece liberare;	20 The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;
21 lo pose signore della sua casa, capo di tutti i suoi averi,	21 he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,
22 per istruire i capi secondo il suo giudizio e insegnare la saggezza agli anziani.	22 to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.
23 E Israele venne in Egitto, Giacobbe visse nel paese di Cam come straniero.	23 Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.
24 Ma Dio rese assai fecondo il suo popolo, lo rese più forte dei suoi nemici.	24 He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,
25 Mutò il loro cuore e odiarono il suo popolo, contro i suoi servi agirono con inganno	25 whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.
26 Mandò Mosè suo servo e Aronne che si era scelto.	26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.
27 Compì per mezzo loro i segni promessi e nel paese di Cam i suoi prodigi.	27 They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.
28 Mandò le tenebre e si fece buio, ma resistettero alle sue parole.	28 Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.
29 Cambiò le loro acque in sangue e fece morire i pesci.	29 He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.
30 Il loro paese brulicò di rane fino alle stanze dei loro sovrani.	30 Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;
31 Diede un ordine e le mosche vennero a sciami e le zanzare in tutto il loro paese.	31 at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.
32 Invece delle piogge mandò loro la grandine, vampe di fuoco sul loro paese.	32 He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;
33 Colpì le loro vigne e i loro fichi, schiantò gli alberi della loro terra.	33 he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.
34 Diede un ordine e vennero le locuste e bruchi senza numero;	34 At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;
35 divorarono tutta l'erba del paese e distrussero il frutto del loro suolo.	35 they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.
36 Colpì nel loro paese ogni primogenito, tutte le primizie del loro vigore.	36 He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;
37 Fece uscire il suo popolo con argento e oro, fra le tribù non c'era alcun infermo.	37 he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.
38 L'Egitto si rallegrò della loro partenza perché su di essi era piombato il terrore.	38 Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.
39 Distese una nube per proteggerli e un fuoco per illuminarli di notte.	39 He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.
40 Alla loro domanda fece scendere le quaglie e li saziò con il pane del cielo.	40 They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;
41 Spaccò una rupe e ne sgorgarono acque, scorrevano come fiumi nel deserto,	41 he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.
42 perché ricordò la sua parola santa data ad Abramo suo servo.	42 Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,
43 Fece uscire il suo popolo con esultanza, i suoi eletti con canti di gioia.	43 he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
44 Diede loro le terre dei popoli, ereditarono la fatica delle genti,	44 He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,
45 perché custodissero i suoi decreti e obbedissero alle sue leggi. Alleluia.	45 on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.
