VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
1 Alleluja. Laudate Dominum, quoniam bonus est psalmus ;
Deo nostro sit jucunda, decoraque laudatio.
1 Al eluia! Praise Yahweh, my soul!
2 Ædificans Jerusalem Dominus,
dispersiones Israëlis congregabit :
2 I wil praise Yahweh al my life, I will make music to my God as long as I live.
3 qui sanat contritos corde,
et alligat contritiones eorum ;
3 Do not put your trust in princes, in any child of Adam, who has no power to save.
4 qui numerat multitudinem stellarum,
et omnibus eis nomina vocat.
4 When his spirit goes forth he returns to the earth, on that very day al his plans come to nothing.
5 Magnus Dominus noster, et magna virtus ejus,
et sapientiæ ejus non est numerus.
5 How blessed is he who has Jacob's God to help him, his hope is in Yahweh his God,
6 Suscipiens mansuetos Dominus ;
humilians autem peccatores usque ad terram.
6 who made heaven and earth, the sea and al that is in them. He keeps faith for ever,
7 Præcinite Domino in confessione ;
psallite Deo nostro in cithara.
7 gives justice to the oppressed, gives food to the hungry; Yahweh sets prisoners free.
8 Qui operit cælum nubibus,
et parat terræ pluviam ;
qui producit in montibus f?num,
et herbam servituti hominum ;
8 Yahweh gives sight to the blind, lifts up those who are bowed down.
9 qui dat jumentis escam ipsorum,
et pullis corvorum invocantibus eum.
9 Yahweh protects the stranger, he sustains the orphan and the widow. Yahweh loves the upright,buthe frustrates the wicked.
10 Non in fortitudine equi voluntatem habebit,
nec in tibiis viri beneplacitum erit ei.
10 Yahweh reigns for ever, your God, Zion, from age to age.
11 Beneplacitum est Domino super timentes eum,
et in eis qui sperant super misericordia ejus.
