Geremia 9

1 Chi darà acqua alla mia testa, e agli occhi miei una fontana di lagrime, e piangerò di, e notte gli uccisi della figlia del popol mio?	1 Would that I had in the desert a travelers' lodge! That I might leave my people and depart from them. They are all adulterers, a faithless band.
2 Chi mi darà nella solitudine una capanna da viaggiatore, affinchè io lasci il mio popolo, e mi ritiri da costoro? perchè ei son tutti adulteri, turba di prevaricatori.	2 They ready their tongues like a drawn bow; with lying, and not with truth, they hold forth in the land. They go from evil to evil, but me they know not, says the LORD.
3 E hanno stesa la loro lingua qual arco di menzogna, e non di verità. Ei si son fatti possenti sopra la terra, perchè da una malvagità son passati all'altra malvagità, e non han conosciuto me, dice il Signore.	3 Be on your guard, everyone against his neighbor; put no trust in any brother. Every brother apes Jacob, the supplanter, every friend is guilty of slander.
4 Si guardi ognuno dal suo prossimo, e nissuno si fidi de' suoi fratelli, perchè ogni fratello farà il mestiero di traditore, e ogni amico ordirà frodi.	4 Each one deceives the other, no one speaks the truth. They have accustomed their tongues to lying, and are perverse, and cannot repent.
5 E ogni uomo si burlerà del proprio fratello, e non diranno mai verità; perocché hanno avvezzata la loro lingua alla bugia: si sono stancati a mal fare.	5 Violence upon violence, deceit upon deceit: They refuse to recognize me, says the LORD.
6 Tu abiti in mezzo agli inganni; perchè aman gl'inganni; ricusano di conoscermi, dice il Signore.	6 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: I will smelt them and test them; how else should I deal with their wickedness?
7 Per questo tali cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io li metterò al fuoco, e farò saggio di essi: imperocché qual altra cosa farò io per la figlia del popol mio?	7 A murderous arrow is his tongue, his mouth utters deceit; He speaks cordially with his friends, but in his heart he lays an ambush!
8 Saetta feritrice è la loro lingua, ella parla per ingannare: colla bocca annunzia pace al suo amico, e segretamente gli tende insidie.	8 For these things, says the LORD, shall I not punish them? On a nation such as this shall I not take vengeance?
9 Forse che io non punirò tali cose, dice il Signore? O non farà vendetta l'anima mia di un popol tale?	9 Over the mountains, break out in cries of lamentation, over the pasture lands, intone a dirge: They are scorched, and no man crosses them, unheard is the bleat of the flock; Birds of the air as well as beasts, all have fled, and are gone.
10 Spargerò lagrime, e lamenti a causa dei monti, e piangerò deserto l'ameno paese; perche tutto è stato incendiato, e perchè nissuno è, che vi passi, e non vi si ode la voce de' padroni: dagli uccelli dell'aria sino ai giumenti tutto se n'è ito, e si è ritirato.	10 I will turn Jerusalem into a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals; The cities of Judah I will make into a waste, where no one dwells.
11 Ed io farò di Gerusalemme mucchi d'arena, e tane di dragoni: e le città di Giuda cangerò in deserti, né vi sarà chi le abiti.	11 Who is so wise that he can understand this? Let him to whom the mouth of the LORD has spoken make it known: Why is the land ravaged, scorched like a wasteland untraversed?
12 Qual è l'uomo sapiente, che in tenda questo, e a cui faccia udire il Signore la Parola della sua bocca, affinchè annunzi il perchè sia andata in perdizione questa terra, e sia arsa come un deserto, talché nissuno vi passi?	12 The LORD answered: Because they have abandoned my law, which I set before them, and have not followed it or listened to my voice,
13 E il Signore disse: Perchè hanno abbandonata la mia legge, ch'io diedi loro, e non hanno udita la mia voce, e secondo questa non han camminato,	13 but followed rather the hardness of their hearts and the Baals, as their fathers had taught them;
14 E han seguitato il pravo lor cuore, e han seguitato Baalim, come insegnaron ad essi i padri loro;	14 therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: See now, I will give them wormwood to eat and poison to drink.
15 Per questo tali cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco che io ciberò questo popolo di assenzio, e darò loro a bere acqua di fiele.	15 I will scatter them among nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known; I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely destroyed them.
16 E li dispergerò tralle nazioni, che erano ignote ad essi, e a' loro padri: e manderò dietro ad essi la spada fino a tanto che siano consunti.	16 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Attention! tell the wailing women to come, summon the best of them;
17 Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Cercatevi, e chiamate delle piagnone, e vengano e mandate a invitare le più dotte, e si affrettino:	17 Let them come quickly and intone a dirge for us, That our eyes may be wet with weeping, our cheeks run with tears.
18 E presto intuonino lamentazioni sopra di noi, e spargano lagrime gli occhi nostri, e stillino acqua le nostre pupille.	18 The dirge is heard from Zion: Ruined we are, and greatly ashamed; We must leave the land, give up our homes!
19 Imperocché voce di lamentazione si ode da Sion: Fino a qual segno siam noi disertati, e confusi altamente? Imperocché abbiam lasciata la nostra terra, le nostre abitazioni son diroccate.	19 Hear, you women, the word of the LORD, let your ears receive his message. Teach your daughters this dirge, and each other this lament.
20 Udite adunque, o donne, la Parola del Signore, e le orecchie vostre ricevano ciò, che egli di sua bocca vi dice; e insegnate alle vostre figliuole; e ognuna alla sua vicina il carme lugubre, e dolente:	20 Death has come up through our windows, has entered our palaces; It cuts down the children in the street, young people in the squares.
21 La morte è salita per le nostre finestre, e entrata nelle nostre case, stermina dalle strade i fanciulli, e la gioventù dalle piazze.	21 The corpses of the slain lie like dung on a field, Like sheaves behind the harvester, with no one to gather them.
22 Tu dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore: I cadaveri degli uomini giaceranno pel paese sul suolo come lo sterco, e come le fila del fieno dietro le spalle di chi lo taglia, e nissun le raccoglie.	22 Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, nor the strong man glory in his strength, nor the rich man glory in his riches;
23 Queste cose dice il Signore: Non si glori il saggio della sua saggezza, e non si glori il valoroso del suo valore, e non si glori il ricco delle sue ricchezze.	23 But rather, let him who glories, glory in this, that in his prudence he knows me, Knows that I, the LORD, bring about kindness, justice and uprightness on the earth; For with such am I pleased, says the LORD.
24 Ma di questo si glori chiunque si gloria, di sapere, e conoscer me, perchè io sono il Signore, che fo misericordia, e giudico, e fo giustizia sulla terra. Imperocché queste cose piacciono a me dice il Signore.	24 See, days are coming, says the LORD, when I will demand an account of all those circumcised in their flesh:
25 Ecco che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, quand'io visiterò tutti i circoncisi,	25 Egypt and Judah, Edom and the Ammonites, Moab and the desert dwellers who shave their temples. For all these nations, like the whole house of Israel, are uncircumcised in heart.
26 L'Egitto, e Giuda, ed Edom, e i figliuoli di Ammon, e Moab, e tutti quelli, che portano i capelli tosati a modo di corona, abitanti del deserto: perocché tutte le genti sono incirconcise nel corpo, ma tutta la casa d'Israele sono incirconcisi di cuore.
