1 A' figliuoli di Ammon. Queste cose dice il Signore: Israele non ha egli forse figli, od è egli privo di erede? Per qual motivo adunque si è egli Melchom fatto padrone dì Gad, e il popolo di lui abita nelle città di Gad?	1 To the Ammonites. Yahweh says this: Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why should Milcom haveinherited Gad and his people have settled in its towns?
2 Per questo viene il tempo, dice il Signore, quand'io farò udire in Rabbatti de' figliuoli di Ammon il romore della guerra, ed ella atterrata, sarà un mucchio di sassi, e le sue figlie saran date alle fiamme, e Israele sarà Signore di quelli, che lo signoreggiavano, dice il Signore.	2 And so the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall make the war cry ring out for Rabbah-of-the-Ammonites. She wil become a desolate mound and her daughter towns wil be burnt down. Then Israel willinherit from his heirs, Yahweh says.
3 Getta urli, o Hesebon, perchè Hai è stata distrutta. 6 E dopo questo io farò, che ritornino i figliuoli di Ammon, dice il Signore.	6 (But later I shal bring back the captive Ammonites, Yahweh declares.)
7 Contro l'Idumea. Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: Non è adunque più saggezza in Theman? I suoi figli sono senza consiglio, la loro saggezza non è buona a nulla.	7 To Edom. Yahweh says this: Is there no wisdom left in Teman? Have the shrewd run out ofcommonsense, has their wisdom vanished?
8 Fuggite, non guardate in dietro, sprofondatevi nelle caverne, o abitanti di Dedan: perocché io ho mandato sopra Esaù la sua perdizione, il tempo del suo gastigo.	8 Away! Take to your heels! Go into hiding, inhabitants of Dedan, for I shal bring ruin on Esau when thetime comes for me to punish him.
9 Se fosser venuti a te de' vendemmiatori, non avrebbon essi lasciato qualche grappolo. Se fosser venuti de' ladri, avrebbon rubato quanto loro bastasse.	9 If grape-pickers were to come to you, would they not leave a few gleanings? If robbers came during thenight, would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
10 Ma io ho discoperto Esaù, ho tratto fuori quel, ch'ei teneva nascosto, e non potrà più celarlo: è sterminata la sua stirpe, i fratelli, i vicini, ed ei più non sarà.	10 But I for my part have stripped Esau, have laid his hiding places bare: he can hide no longer. His raceis destroyed, so are his brothers and neighbours; he is no more!
11 Lascia i tuoi pupilli: io li farò vivere; e le tue vedove in me spereranno;	11 Leave your orphans, I shall support them, and let your widows rely on me!
12 Perocché queste cose dice il Signore: Ecco che quelli, pe' quali non era destinato di bere il calice, pur lo berranno assolutamente: e tu sarai lasciato a parte quasi innocente? Tu non sarai innocente, e lo berai assolutamente;	12 For Yahweh says this, 'Look, those who would not have had to drink the cup wil have to drink it all thesame; so why should you go unpunished? You wil not go unpunished, but wil certainly have to drink.
13 Imperocché per me medesimo io ho giurato, dice il Signore, che Bosra sarà devastata, ridotta all'obbrobrio, e deserta, e maledetta, e tutte le sue città saranno solitudine eterna.	13 For by my own self I have sworn, Yahweh declares, that Bozrah will become an object of horror, alaughing-stock, a desert, a curse, and al its towns ruins for ever.'
14 Questa cosa udii io dal Signore, e n'è stata mandata l'ambasciata alle genti. Raunatevi, e venite contro Bosra, e andiamo a combatterla:	14 I have received a message from Yahweh, a herald has been sent throughout the nations, 'Muster!March against this people! Prepare for battle!'
15 Imperocché piccolo ti feci io tralle genti, e dispregevole tragli uomini.	15 For look, I shal reduce you to the smal est of nations, to the most despised of people.
16 L'arroganza tua, e la superbia del tuo cuore ingannò te, te che abiti nelle caverne de massi, e tenti di alzarti fino alla vetta del monte. Quando tu facessi il tuo nido più in alto, che l'aquila, indi io ti trarrò fuora, dice il Signore.	16 Your reputation for ferocity, your proud heart has misled you. You whose home is in the crannies of the Rock, who cling to the top of the peak! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle's, I shal bring youdown from there, Yahweh declares.
17 E l'Idumea sarà deserta: chiunque vi passerà, resterà stupefatto, e insulterà a tutte le sue piaghe.	17 Edom wil become an object of horror; everyone going near wil be appal ed, and whistle at the sight ofal her wounds.
18 Come fu atterrata Sodoma, e Gomorra, e le sue vicine, dice il Signore, ella non sarà abitata da uomo, né un figliuolo dell'uomo vi porrà stanza.	18 As at the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbouring towns, no one wil live there anymore, Yahweh says, no human being settle there again.
19 Ecco uno, che quasi leone dal gonfio Giordano va sopra alla beltà robusta: perocché io farò, che egli a lei corra subitamente: e quai sono gli uomini eletti, che io le darò per difesa? perocché chi è simile a me? chi a me si opporrà? E qual è il pastore, che sostener possa il mio volto?	19 Look, like a lion he climbs from the thickets of the Jordan to the perennial pasture! In a flash, I shalmake them run away, and there appoint someone I shal choose. For who is there like me? Who can hale meinto court? Name me the shepherd who can stand up to me.
20 Udite adunque il disegno, che il Signore ha formato intorno ad Edom; e quello, che egli ha risoluto intorno agli abitatori di Theman: Io giuro, che i pargoletti del gregge il getteranno per terra, e dissiperanno con essi le loro abitazioni.	20 So now hear the plan that Yahweh has laid against Edom, the schemes he has in mind against theinhabitants of Teman: they will certainly be dragged away like the smal est of the flock! Their pastures wilcertainly be sacked before their eyes!
21 Al romore di lor rovina si è smossa la terra, le voci loro, e i clamori si son sentiti nel rosso mare.	21 The earth quakes at the sound of their downfal , the sound of it echoes to the Sea of Reeds.
22 Verrà, e alzerà il volo com'aquila e spanderà le ali sue sopra Bosra: e il cuore de' forti dell'Idumea sarà in quel di come il cuore di una donna, che partorisce.	22 Look, like an eagle, he wil soar and hover, spreading his wings over Bozrah. And the heart of Edom'swarriors, that day, wil be like that of a woman in labour pains.
23 Contro Damasco: Emath, e Arphad sono confuse; perocché pessima novella hanno udito: quelli del mare sono turbati; L'inquietudine toglie loro il riposo.	23 To Damascus. Hamath and Arpad are shamed, for they have heard bad news. They are convulsedwith anxiety like the sea that cannot be calmed.

27 E appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Damasco, e divorerà le muraglie di Benadad.	27 I shal light a fire inside the wal s of Damascus, to devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.
28 Contro Cedar, e contro i regni di Asor abbattuti da Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia. Queste cose dice il Signore: Alzatevi, andate contro Cedar, e sterminate i figli dell'Oriente.	28 To Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which were conquered by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.Yahweh says this: Up! March on Kedar, destroy the sons of the east!
29 Saccheggeranno le loro tende, e i loro greggi: si prenderanno le loro pelli, e tutti i loro arnesi, e i loro cammelli; e porteranno sopra di loro lo spavento da ogni parte.	29 Let their tents and their flocks be captured, their tent-cloths and al their gear; let their camels beseized and the shout go up, 'Terror on every side!'
30 Fuggite, scappate lungi, riposatevi nelle caverne, abitatori di Asor, dice il Signore; imperocché contro di voi ha formati disegni, macchina contro di voi Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia.	30 Away! Get into hiding as fast as you can, inhabitants of Hazor, Yahweh declares, for Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon has made a plan against you, he has a scheme in mind against you,
31 Or voi alzatevi, andate ad invadere una nazione tranquilla, che vive senza timori, dice il Signore, non hanno porte, né chiavi; abitan solitari.	31 Up! March on a nation at its ease, living secure, Yahweh declares, that has no gates, no bars, thatlives in a remote place!
32 Voi rapirete i loro cammelli, e la moltitudine de' lor giumenti sarà vostra preda. Io dispergerò a tutti i venti costoro, che tosano i loro capelli a modo di corona, e da tutti i loro confini farò, che venga contro di essi la morte, dice il Signore.	32 Their camels wil be the plunder, their countless sheep the spoil. I shal scatter them to the winds,those Crop-Heads, and bring ruin on them from every side, Yahweh declares.
33 E Asor diventerà tana di dragoni, sarà deserta in eterno: non resteravvi uomo, né figliuolo di uomo vi porrà stanza.	33 Hazor wil become the lair of jackals, desolate for ever. No one wil live there any more, no humanbeing settle there again.
34 Parola detta dal Signore al profeta Geremia contro di Elam al principio del regno di Sedecia re di Giuda:	34 The word of Yahweh that came to the prophet Jeremiah about Elam, at the beginning of the reign ofZedekiah king of Judah.
35 Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, che io spezzerò l'arco di Elam, e il principio di lor possanza.	35 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, I shal break Elam's bow, the source of his might.
36 E scatenerò contro Elam quattro venti dai quattro punti del cielo: e gli spergerò a tutti questi venti, e non saravvi nazione, dove non arrivino i fuggitivi di Elam.	36 I shal bring four winds on Elam from the four corners of the sky, and I shall scatter them to al thesewinds: there wil not be a single nation to which people expel ed from Elam do not go.
37 E farò, che tremi Elam in faccia a' suoi nemici, e al cospetto di color, che vogliono la sua perdizione. I shalbring disaster on them, my burning anger, Yahweh declares. I shall pursue them with the sword until I havedestroyed them al .
38 E porrò il mio trono in Elam, e di là scaccerò i regi, e i principi, dice il Signore.	38 I shal set up my throne in Elam, uprooting its king and princes, Yahweh declares.
39 Ma neg]i ultimi giorni farò, che tornino i prigionieri di Elam, dice il Signore.	39 In the final days, I shal bring Elam's captives back, Yahweh declares.'
