1 'Al maestro del coro. Dei figli di Core. Salmo.'	1 For the leader. A psalm of the Korahites.
2 Ascoltate, popoli tutti, porgete orecchio abitanti del mondo,	2 Hear this, all you peoples! Give ear, all who inhabit the world,
3 voi nobili e gente del popolo, ricchi e poveri insieme.	3 You of lowly birth or high estate, rich and poor alike.
4 La mia bocca esprime sapienza, il mio cuore medita saggezza;	4 My mouth shall speak wisdom, my heart shall offer insight.
5 porgerò l'orecchio a un proverbio, spiegherò il mio enigma sulla cetra.	5 I will turn my attention to a problem, expound my question to the music of a lyre.
6 Perché temere nei giorni tristi, quando mi circonda la malizia dei perversi?	6 Why should I fear in evil days, when my wicked pursuers ring me round,
7 Essi confidano nella loro forza, si vantano della loro grande ricchezza.	7 Those who trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches?
8 Nessuno può riscattare se stesso, o dare a Dio il suo prezzo.	8 One cannot redeem oneself, pay to God a ransom.
9 Per quanto si paghi il riscatto di una vita, non potrà mai bastare	9 Too high the price to redeem a life; one would never have enough
10 per vivere senza fine, e non vedere la tomba.	10 To stay alive forever and never see the pit.
11 Vedrà morire i sapienti; lo stolto e l'insensato periranno insieme e lasceranno ad altri le loro ricchezze.	11 Anyone can see that the wisest die, the fool and the senseless pass away too, and must leave their wealth to others.
12 Il sepolcro sarà loro casa per sempre, loro dimora per tutte le generazioni, eppure hanno dato il loro nome alla terra.	12 Tombs are their homes forever, their dwellings through all generations, though they gave their names to their lands.
13 Ma l'uomo nella prosperità non comprende, è come gli animali che periscono.	13 For all their riches mortals do not abide; they perish like the beasts.
14 Questa è la sorte di chi confida in se stesso, l'avvenire di chi si compiace nelle sue parole.	14 This is the destiny of those who trust in folly, the end of those so pleased with their wealth. Selah
15 Come pecore sono avviati agli inferi, sarà loro pastore la morte; scenderanno a precipizio nel sepolcro, svanirà ogni loro parvenza: gli inferi saranno la loro dimora.	15 Like sheep they are herded into Sheol, where death will be their shepherd. Straight to the grave they descend, where their form will waste away, Sheol will be their palace.
16 Ma Dio potrà riscattarmi, mi strapperà dalla mano della morte.	16 But God will redeem my life, will take me from the power of Sheol. Selah
17 Se vedi un uomo arricchirsi, non temere, se aumenta la gloria della sua casa.	17 Do not fear when others become rich, when the wealth of their houses grows great.
18 Quando muore con sé non porta nulla, né scende con lui la sua gloria.	18 When they die they will take nothing with them, their wealth will not follow them down.
19 Nella sua vita si diceva fortunato: "Ti loderanno, perché ti sei procurato del bene".	19 When living, they congratulate themselves and say: "All praise you, you do so well."
20 Andrà con la generazione dei suoi padri che non vedranno mai più la luce.	20 But they will join the company of their forebears, never again to see the light.
21 L'uomo nella prosperità non comprende, è come gli animali che periscono.	21 For all their riches, if mortals do not have wisdom, they perish like the beasts.
