BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Giobbe prese a dire:	1 Job spoke next. He said:
2 «Ascoltate bene la mia parola e sia questo almeno il conforto che mi date.	2 Listen careful y to my words; let this be the consolation you allow me.
3 Tollerate che io parli e, dopo che avrò parlato, deridetemi pure.	3 Permit me to speak in my turn; you may jeer when I have spoken.
4 Mi lamento forse di un uomo? E perché non dovrei perdere la pazienza?	4 Is my complaint just about a fellow-mortal? I have good grounds to be perturbed!
5 Statemi attenti e resterete stupiti, mettetevi la mano sulla bocca.	5 Give your attention to me; you wil be dumbfounded and wil place your hand over your mouth.
6 Se io ci penso, rimango turbato e la mia carne è presa da un brivido.	6 I myself am appalled at the very thought, and my flesh creeps.
7 Perché i malvagi continuano a vivere, e invecchiando diventano più forti e più ricchi?	7 Why do the wicked stil live on, their power increasing with their age?
8 La loro prole prospera insieme con loro, i loro rampolli crescono sotto i loro occhi.	8 They see their posterity assured, and their offspring secure before their eyes.
9 Le loro case sono tranquille e senza timori; il bastone di Dio non pesa su di loro.	9 The peace of their houses has nothing to fear, the rod that God wields is not for them.
10 Il loro toro monta senza mai fallire, la mucca partorisce senza abortire.	10 No mishap with their bull at breeding-time, nor miscarriage with their cow at calving.
11 Mandano fuori, come un gregge, i loro ragazzi e i loro figli danzano in festa.	11 They let their infants frisk like lambs, their children dance like deer.
12 Cantano al ritmo di tamburelli e di cetre, si divertono al suono dei flauti.	12 They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice to the sound of the pipe.
13 Finiscono nel benessere i loro giorni e scendono tranquilli nel regno dei morti.	13 They end their lives in happiness and go down in peace to Sheol.
14 Eppure dicevano a Dio: “Allontànati da noi, non vogliamo conoscere le tue vie.	14 Yet these are the ones who say to God, 'Go away! We do not want to learn your ways.
15 Chi è l’Onnipotente, perché dobbiamo servirlo? E che giova pregarlo?”.	15 What is the point of our serving Shaddai? What should we gain from praying to him?'
16 Essi hanno in mano il loro benessere e il consiglio degli empi è lontano da lui.	16 Surely they have won their own prosperity, since God is kept so far from their plans?
17 Quante volte si spegne la lucerna degli empi, e la sventura piomba su di loro, e infligge loro castighi con ira?	17 Do we often see the light of the wicked put out, or disaster overtake him, or the retribution of Goddestroy his possessions,
18 Sono essi come paglia sollevata al vento o come pula in preda all’uragano?	18 or the wind blow him away like a straw, or a whirlwind carry him off like chaff?
19 “Dio – si dirà – riserva il castigo per i figli dell’empio”. No, lo subisca e lo senta lui il castigo!	19 So God is storing up punishment for his children? But the wicked himself should be punished, andshould know it!
20 Veda con i suoi occhi la sua rovina e beva dell’ira dell’Onnipotente!	20 He himself should witness his own ruin, and himself drink the anger of Shaddai.
21 Che cosa gli importa infatti della sua casa quando è morto, quando il numero dei suoi mesi è finito?	21 Once he is gone, what joy can he gain from his family, once the number of his months has been cutoff?
22 S’insegna forse la scienza a Dio, a lui che giudica gli esseri celesti?	22 But who can teach wisdom to God, to him who is judge of those on high?
23 Uno muore in piena salute, tutto tranquillo e prospero;	23 And again: one person dies in the ful ness of strength, in all possible happiness and ease,
24 i suoi fianchi sono coperti di grasso e il midollo delle sue ossa è ben nutrito.	24 thighs padded with fat and the marrow in the bones good and moist.
25 Un altro muore con l’amarezza in cuore, senza aver mai assaporato la gioia.	25 Another dies in bitterness of heart, never having tasted happiness.
26 Eppure entrambi giacciono insieme nella polvere e i vermi li ricoprono.	26 They lie together down in the dust and the worms soon cover them both.
27 Ecco, io conosco bene i vostri pensieri e i progetti che tramate contro di me!	27 Oh, I know what is in your minds, what you so spiteful y think about me!
28 Infatti voi dite: “Dov’è la casa del nobile, dove sono le tende degli empi?”.	28 'What has become of the great lord's house,' you say, 'where is the tent where the wicked used tolive?'
29 Perché non avete chiesto a chi ha viaggiato e non avete considerato attentamente le loro prove?	29 Have you never questioned people who travel, do you not understand the testimony they give:
30 Cioè che nel giorno della sciagura è risparmiato il malvagio e nel giorno dell’ira egli trova scampo?	30 on the day of disaster, the wicked is spared, on the day of retribution, he is kept safe?
31 Chi gli rimprovera in faccia la sua condotta e di quel che ha fatto chi lo ripaga?	31 And who is there then to reproach him for his deeds and to pay him back for the things he has done?
32 Egli sarà portato al sepolcro, sul suo tumulo si veglia	32 He is carried away to the cemetery, and a watch is kept at his tomb.
33 e gli sono lievi le zolle della valle. Camminano dietro a lui tutti gli uomini e innanzi a sé ha una folla senza numero.	33 The clods of the ravine lie easy on him, and the whole population walk behind.
34 E voi vorreste consolarmi con argomenti vani! Nelle vostre risposte non c’è altro che inganno».	34 So what sense is there in your empty consolation? your answers are the left-overs of infidelity!
