1 Benedici il Signore, anima mia, Signore, mio Dio, quanto sei grande! Rivestito di maestà e di splendore,	1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
2 avvolto di luce come di un manto. Tu stendi il cielo come una tenda,	2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
3 costruisci sulle acque la tua dimora, fai delle nubi il tuo carro, cammini sulle ali del vento;	3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
4 fai dei venti i tuoi messaggeri, delle fiamme guizzanti i tuoi ministri.	4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
5 Hai fondato la terra sulle sue basi, mai potrà vacillare.	5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
6 L'oceano l'avvolgeva come un manto, le acque coprivano le montagne.	6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
7 Alla tua minaccia sono fuggite, al fragore del tuo tuono hanno tremato.	7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
8 Emergono i monti, scendono le valli al luogo che hai loro assegnato.	8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
9 Hai posto un limite alle acque: non lo passeranno, non torneranno a coprire la terra.	9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
10 Fai scaturire le sorgenti nelle valli e scorrono tra i monti;	10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
11 ne bevono tutte le bestie selvatiche e gli ònagri estinguono la loro sete.	11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
12 Al di sopra dimorano gli uccelli del cielo, cantano tra le fronde.	12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
13 Dalle tue alte dimore irrighi i monti, con il frutto delle tue opere sazi la terra.	13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
14 Fai crescere il fieno per gli armenti e l'erba al servizio dell'uomo, perché tragga alimento dalla terra:	14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
15 il vino che allieta il cuore dell'uomo; l'olio che fa brillare il suo volto e il pane che sostiene il suo vigore.	15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
16 Si saziano gli alberi del Signore, i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.	16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
17 Là gli uccelli fanno il loro nido e la cicogna sui cipressi ha la sua casa.	17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
18 Per i camosci sono le alte montagne, le rocce sono rifugio per gli iràci.	18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
19 Per segnare le stagioni hai fatto la luna e il sole che conosce il suo tramonto.	19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
20 Stendi le tenebre e viene la notte e vagano tutte le bestie della foresta;	20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
21 ruggiscono i leoncelli in cerca di preda e chiedono a Dio il loro cibo.	21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
22 Sorge il sole, si ritirano e si accovacciano nelle tane.	22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
23 Allora l'uomo esce al suo lavoro, per la sua fatica fino a sera.	23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
24 Quanto sono grandi, Signore, le tue opere! Tutto hai fatto con saggezza, la terra è piena delle tue creature.	24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
25 Ecco il mare spazioso e vasto: lì guizzano senza numero animali piccoli e grandi.	25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
26 Lo solcano le navi, il Leviatàn che hai plasmato perché in esso si diverta.	26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
27 Tutti da te aspettano che tu dia loro il cibo in tempo opportuno.	27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
28 Tu lo provvedi, essi lo raccolgono, tu apri la mano, si saziano di beni.	28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
29 Se nascondi il tuo volto, vengono meno, togli loro il respiro, muoiono e ritornano nella loro polvere.	29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
30 Mandi il tuo spirito, sono creati, e rinnovi la faccia della terra.	30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
31 La gloria del Signore sia per sempre; gioisca il Signore delle sue opere.	31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
32 Egli guarda la terra e la fa sussultare, tocca i monti ed essi fumano.	32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
33 Voglio cantare al Signore finché ho vita, cantare al mio Dio finché esisto.	33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
34 A lui sia gradito il mio canto; la mia gioia è nel Signore.	34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
35 Scompaiano i peccatori dalla terra e più non esistano gli empi. Benedici il Signore, anima mia.	35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
