Giobbe 34

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Eliu prese a dire:	1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:
2 «Ascoltate, saggi, le mie parole e voi, dotti, porgetemi l’orecchio,	2 And now, you sages, listen to what I say, lend me your ears, you learned men.
3 perché come l’orecchio distingue le parole e il palato assapora i cibi,	3 The ear distinguishes the value of what is said, just as the palate can tel one food from another.
4 così noi esploriamo ciò che è giusto, indaghiamo tra noi ciò che è bene.	4 Let us consider together God's ruling and decide what we all mean by good.
5 Giobbe ha detto: “Io sono giusto, ma Dio mi nega il mio diritto;	5 Job has been saying, 'I am upright and God denies me fair judgement.
6 contro il mio diritto passo per menzognero, inguaribile è la mia piaga, benché senza colpa”.	6 My judge is treating me cruel y, my wound is incurable, for no fault of mine.'
7 Quale uomo è come Giobbe che beve, come l’acqua, l’insulto,	7 Can anyone else exist like Job, who laps up mockery like water,
8 che cammina in compagnia dei malfattori, andando con uomini iniqui?	8 who consorts with evil-doers and marches in step with the wicked?
9 Infatti egli ha detto: “Non giova all’uomo essere gradito a Dio”.	9 Did he not say, 'No one derives any benefit from enjoying the society of God'?
10 Perciò ascoltatemi, voi che siete uomini di senno: lontano da Dio l’iniquità e dall’Onnipotente l’ingiustizia!	10 Listen to me then, like intel igent people. Far be evil from God or injustice from Shaddai!
11 Egli infatti ricompensa l’uomo secondo le sue opere, retribuisce ciascuno secondo la sua condotta.	11 For he pays people back for what they do, treating each as his own conduct deserves.
12 In verità, Dio non agisce da ingiusto e l’Onnipotente non sovverte il diritto!	12 Be sure of it: God never does wrong, Shaddai does not pervert what is just.
13 Chi mai gli ha affidato la terra? Chi gli ha assegnato l’universo?	13 Did someone else entrust the world to his care was he given charge of the universe by someoneelse?
14 Se egli pensasse solo a se stesso e a sé ritraesse il suo spirito e il suo soffio,	14 If he were to recal his spirit, to concentrate his breath back in himself,
15 ogni carne morirebbe all’istante e l’uomo ritornerebbe in polvere.	15 all flesh would instantly perish and al people would return to dust.
16 Se sei intelligente, ascolta bene questo, porgi l’orecchio al suono delle mie parole.	16 If you have any intel igence, listen to this, lend your ear to the sound of my words.
17 Può mai governare chi è nemico del diritto? E tu osi condannare il Giusto supremo?	17 Could an enemy of fair judgement ever govern? Would you dare condemn the Upright One, theAlmighty,
18 Lui che dice a un re: “Iniquo!” e ai prìncipi: “Malvagi!”,	18 who says to a king, 'You are a scoundrel!' and to nobles, 'You are wicked!',
19 lui che non usa parzialità con i potenti e non preferisce il ricco al povero, perché tutti sono opera delle sue mani.	19 who is unimpressed by princes and makes no distinction between rich and poor, since al alike havebeen made by him?
20 In un istante muoiono e nel cuore della notte sono colpiti i potenti e periscono. Senza sforzo egli rimuove i tiranni,	20 They die suddenly, at dead of night, they perish -- these great ones -- and disappear: it costs him noeffort to remove a tyrant.
21 perché tiene gli occhi sulla condotta dell’uomo e vede tutti i suoi passi.	21 For his eyes keep watch on human ways, and he observes every step.
22 Non vi è tenebra, non densa oscurità, dove possano nascondersi i malfattori.	22 No darkness, no shadow dark as death where wrong-doers can hide!
23 Poiché non si fissa una data all’uomo per comparire davanti a Dio in giudizio:	23 He serves no writ on anyone, no summons to appear before God's court:
24 egli abbatte i potenti, senza fare indagini, e colloca altri al loro posto.	24 he breaks the powerful without enquiry and sets up others in their places.
25 Perché conosce le loro opere, li travolge nella notte e sono schiacciati.	25 He knows the sort of things they do! He overthrows them at night, to be trampled on.
26 Come malvagi li percuote, li colpisce alla vista di tutti,	26 He beats them like criminals chained up for al to see,
27 perché si sono allontanati da lui e di tutte le sue vie non vollero saperne,	27 since they have turned their backs on him, having understood so little of his ways
28 facendo salire fino a lui il grido degli oppressi, ed egli udì perciò il lamento dei poveri.	28 as to make the cries of the weak rise to him and let him hear the appeal of the afflicted.
29 Se egli rimane inattivo, chi può condannarlo? Se nasconde il suo volto, chi può vederlo? Ma sulle nazioni e sugli individui egli veglia,	29 But if he is stil silent and no one can move him, if he veils his face, so that no one can see him, he istaking pity on nations and individuals,
30 perché non regni un uomo perverso, e il popolo non venga ostacolato.	30 is setting some wrong-doer free from the meshes of affliction.
31 A Dio si può dire questo: “Mi sono ingannato, non farò più del male.	31 When such a one says to God, 'I was misled, I shal not do wrong any more;
32 Al di là di quello che vedo, istruiscimi tu. Se ho commesso iniquità, non persisterò”.	32 although I have sinned, instruct me; although I did wrong, I will not do it again,'
33 Forse dovrebbe ricompensare secondo il tuo modo di vedere, perché tu rifiuti il suo giudizio? Sei tu che devi scegliere, non io, di’, dunque, quello che sai.	33 in your opinion, should he punish such a one -- you who have rejected his decisions? This is for youto decide -- not for me!- so kindly enlighten us!
34 Gli uomini di senno mi diranno insieme a ogni saggio che mi ascolta:	34 Ordinary sensible people, however, wil say to me, and so wil any sage who has been listening tome,
35 “Giobbe non parla con sapienza e le sue parole sono prive di senso”.	35 'Job's words are spoken without any knowledge, what he says shows no intel igence.
36 Bene, Giobbe sia esaminato fino in fondo, per le sue risposte da uomo empio,	36 Kindly examine him thoroughly, since his answers imply that he is a criminal.
37 perché al suo peccato aggiunge la ribellione, getta scherno su di noi e moltiplica le sue parole contro Dio».	37 For to his sin he now adds rebellion, bringing law to an end among us and heaping abuse on God.'
