1 Bildad di Suach prese a dire:	1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
2 «Quando porrai fine alle tue chiacchiere? Rifletti bene e poi parleremo.	2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 Perché ci consideri come bestie, ci fai passare per idioti ai tuoi occhi?	3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
4 Tu che ti rodi l’anima nel tuo furore, forse per causa tua sarà abbandonata la terra e le rupi si staccheranno dal loro posto?	4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
5 Certamente la luce del malvagio si spegnerà e più non brillerà la fiamma del suo focolare.	5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
6 La luce si offuscherà nella sua tenda e la lucerna si estinguerà sopra di lui.	6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
7 Il suo energico passo si accorcerà e i suoi progetti lo faranno precipitare,	7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
8 perché con i suoi piedi incapperà in una rete e tra le maglie camminerà.	8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
9 Un laccio l’afferrerà per il calcagno, un nodo scorsoio lo stringerà.	9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.
10 Gli è nascosta per terra una fune e gli è tesa una trappola sul sentiero.	10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
11 Terrori lo spaventano da tutte le parti e gli stanno alle calcagna.	11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
12 Diventerà carestia la sua opulenza e la rovina è ritta al suo fianco.	12 Disaster is ready at his side,
13 Un malanno divorerà la sua pelle, il primogenito della morte roderà le sue membra.	13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
14 Sarà tolto dalla tenda in cui fidava, per essere trascinato davanti al re dei terrori!	14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
15 Potresti abitare nella tenda che non è più sua; sulla sua dimora si spargerà zolfo.	15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 Al di sotto, le sue radici si seccheranno, sopra, appassiranno i suoi rami.	16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
17 Il suo ricordo sparirà dalla terra e il suo nome più non si udrà per la contrada.	17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
18 Lo getteranno dalla luce nel buio e dal mondo lo stermineranno.	18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
19 Non famiglia, non discendenza avrà nel suo popolo, non superstiti nei luoghi della sua residenza.	19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
20 Della sua fine stupirà l’occidente e l’oriente ne avrà orrore.	20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
21 Ecco qual è la sorte dell’iniquo: questa è la dimora di chi non riconosce Dio».	21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!
