1 E i due Angeli arrivarono a Sodoma sulla sera, e in tempo che Lot stava sedendo alla porta della città. Ed egli veduti questi, si alzò, e andò loro incontro: e gli adorò prostrato per terra.	1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 E disse: Signori, di grazia venite alla casa del vostro servo, e albergatevi: vi laverete i vostri piedi, e alla mattina ve n'andrete al vostro viaggio. Ma quelli dissero: No, noi staremo nella piazza.	2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 Ei però li costrinse ad andarsene a casa sua: ed entrati che furono, fece loro il banchetto, e cosse del pane senza lievito, ed ei mangiarono.	3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 Ma prima ch'essi andassero a dormire, gli uomini della città assediarono la casa, fanciulli, e vecchi, e tutto il popolo insieme.	4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 E chiamaron Lot, e gli dissero: Dove sono quegli uomini, che sono entrati in casa tua sul far della notte? mandagli qua fuora, affinché noi li conosciamo.	5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6 Uscì Lot, chiudendo dietro a sé la porta, e disse loro:	6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 Non vogliate di grazia, fratelli miei, non vogliate far questo male.	7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Ho due figliuole ancor vergini: le condurrò a voi, e abusate di esse, come vi pare, purché non facciate verun male a quegli uomini; perocché son venuti all'ombra del mio tetto.	8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 Ma quelli dissero: Va' in là. E aggiunsero: Tu sei entrato qua come forestiero; la farai tu da giudice? Noi adunque faremo a te peggio, che a quelli. E facevano strapazzo grandissimo di Lot: ed erano già vicini a rompere la porta.	9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 Quand'ecco quegli steser la mano, e misero Lot in casa, e chiuser la porta.	10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 E colla cecità punirono que' che eran fuori, dal più piccolo fino al più grande, talmente che non potevano trovar la porta.	11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12 E dissero a Lot: Hai tu qui alcuno de' tuoi, o genero, o figliuoli, o figlie? tutti i tuoi menali via da questa città;	12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 Imperocché noi distruggeremo questo luogo; perché il loro grido si è alzato vie più fino al Signore, il quale ci ha mandati a sterminarli.	13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
14 Uscì adunque Lot, e parlò a' suoi generi, che doveano prendere le sue figlie, e disse: Levatevi, partite da questo luogo; perché il Signore distruggerà questa città. E parve loro, che parlasse come per burla.	14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 E fattosi giorno, gli Angeli lo sollecitavano, dicendo: Affrettati; prendi la tua moglie, e le due figliuole, che hai: affinché tu ancor non perisca per le scelleratezze di questa città.	15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 E stando egli a bada, lo preser per mano lui, e la sua moglie, e le sue due figliuole, perché il Signore a lui volea perdonarla.	16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 E lo condussero via, e lo miser fuori della città: e quivi parlarono a lui, dicendo: Salva la tua vita: non voltarti indietro, e non ti fermare in tutto il paese circonvicino: ma salvati al monte, affinché tu pure non perisca.	17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 E Lot disse loro: Di grazia, Signor mio,	18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19 Dacché il tuo servo ha trovato grazia dinanzi a te, e hai fatto a me una misericordia grande, ponendo in sicuro la mia vita, io non posso salvarmi sul monte, perché potrebbe forse venir sciagura sopra di me, e tormi la vita.	19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 È qui vicina quella città, alla quale posso fuggire; ella è piccola, e ivi troverò salute. Non è ella piccolina, e ivi non sarà sicura la mia vita?	20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
21 Ma quegli disse a lui: Ecco che anche in questo io ho esaudite le tue preghiere, onde non distruggerò la città, in favor della quale tu hai parlato.	21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
22 Affrettati, e salvati colà: perocché io non potrò far nulla, fino a tanto che tu vi sia entrato. Per questo fu dato a quella città il nome di Segor.	22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 Il sole si levò sopra la terra, e Lot entrò in Segor.	23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
24 Il Signore adunque piovve dal Signore sopra Sodoma e Gomorrha zolfo e fuoco dal cielo:	24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
25 E distrusse quelle città, e tutto il paese all'intorno, tutti gli abitatori delle città, e tutto il verde della campagna.	25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26 E la moglie di Lot essendosi rivolta indietro, fu cangiata in una statua di sale.	26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 Ma Abramo portatosi la mattina là, dove prima era stato col Signore,	27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:
28 Volse lo sguardo verso Sodoma e Gomorrha, e verso la terra tutta di quella regione: e vide le faville, che si alzavano da terra, quasi il fumo di una fornace.	28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29 Imperocché quando Dio atterrò le città di quella regione, ricordossi egli di Abramo, e liberò Lot dallo sterminio di quelle città, nelle quali questi avea dimorato.	29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30 E Lot si partì da Segor, e si stette sul monte, e con lui le sue due figliuole (perocché egli non si teneva sicuro in Segor): e abitò in una caverna egli, e le due figliuole con lui.	30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 E la maggiore di esse disse alla minore: Nostro padre è vecchio, e non è rimasto uomo alcuno sopra la terra, che possa esser nostro marito, come si costuma in tutta la terra.	31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Vieni, ubbriachiamolo col vino, e dormiamo con lui, affinché serbar possiamo discendenza di nostro padre.	32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 Diedero adunque quella notte del vino a bere al padre loro. E la maggiore si accostò a lui, e dormì col padre: ma egli non si accorse, né quando la figlia si pose a letto, né quando si levò.	33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 E il dì seguente la maggiore disse alla minore: Ecco che ieri io dormii col padre mio: diamogli da bere del vino anche stanotte, e tu dormirai con lui, affin di serbare discendenza del padre nostro.	34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father.
35 Dettero anche quella notte a bere del vino al padre loro; e si accostò a lui la figliuola minore, e dormì con lui: e neppure allora si accorse, né quando quella si pose a giacere, né quando si levò.	35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Restarono adunque le due figliuole di Lot gravide del loro padre.	36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 E la maggiore partorì un figliuolo, e gli pose nome Moab: questi è il padre dei Moabiti, che sussistono fino al dì d'oggi.	37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 La minore ancora partorì un figliuolo, e gli pose nome Ammon, vale a dire figliuolo del popol mio: egli è il padre degli Ammoniti, che sussistono fino al dì d'oggi.	38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
